*O*Channel:what happened?

A little Mousercise never hurt anyone, bring it back!

I do find it interesting that Disney is willing to out "Best of MMC" with Britney, Christina, and Justin, but not put it on TV where more people will watch it. (I know, I know, it's not really old school Disney, but it holds a lot of memories for 20somethings like myself).

This are my 20 cents (and not a Rapper). I think why Disney Television (the ones incharge of DC, ABC, ABC fam and so on) caters better. Most of the things at ABC Fam and DC are almost identical. Then, why is so hard to produce new Disney Related Material. As many people said here, why some milestones Disneyland 50's, Disneyland Hong Kong, Walt's 100. they use to bring and celebrate this important dates. Concerts from the park like DJ Tiësto at Disneyland Paris for Space Mountain: Mission 2 inaguration.

I know teenager are disposable income, and i have seen Coca Cola and McDonalds commercials at DC. if perhaps they need well have a new Disney Channel called Disney Vault in the Digital Channels.

What to program: (and remember the program in blocks)

Disney: Inside Out. have it monthy or Biweekly and not just cover WDW, let have the cover all the parks around the World. Topics well Behind the Scene, Food, whats new, plans, and so on.

Vintage Wonderful World of Disney: Classic Animation, (lets include a premiere here for Mickey's Runnaway Brain short, just seen in movies some time ago), Classic Movies, Classic concert from the Disney Parks (all this can go til cover the '90's).

Bill Nye: The Science Guy (this was a fun program and was produced by Disney)

Remember: Celebrate: an hour or 4 half and hour programs dedicated to Anniversaries, Opening Ceremonies, Premieres, special parade broadcasts.

Disney Foward: what is Disney doing: what is production, in general, Parades, Fireworks shows, Concerts, Rides, Movies, cartoons, tv, remodeling, and so on.

This and so much more, hey even put some comercials like PBS (at the beginnig and End of each show. What you think

It is amazing how many people feel the same way about bringing back the old Disney Channel, when it was "The" Disney Channel. Those were the good days, just like the Disney Store when it was actually "The" Disney Store. Once Disney took the "the" away from these words, there was no distinction between them, they just sort of tried to blend in with every other channel, or retail store. The programming on the Disney Channel these days sucks and I am glad I at least had the opportunity to grow up with "The" Disney Channel.
I remember watching the good shows like MMC, Kids Incorporated, Gummi Bears, Dumbo's Circus, Adventures in Wonderland, Avonlea, I could go on forever naming shows. I also remember when they only showed commercials between shows, and they were actually good commercials, sort of a novelty. Sometimes I couldnt wait for a show to end so I could see their commercials, and see those bumpers where you would only see mickeys gloves and he would be doing different things. I remember The Disney Channel Magazine too. I also remember when things started to go downhill. It was Winter 1996/ Spring 1997. I still have the last issue of The Disney Channel Magazine before it changed to the now gone "Behind the Ears" Magazine. On the first page of the old magazine which was dated Dec. 96/ Jan 97, it says this is the last issue of the Disney Channel Magazine, and a newer improved magazine and Disney Channel would be coming in the next few months. Then they changed their logo to those awful TV screen shaped Mickey ears which was shown too much. Then they started putting their logo on the bottom of the screen for the entire duration of a show. Then they started the commercials during the shows with that annoying Kirk Cameron sounding guy doing the voice- over for every commercial. Some things were still good though, Walt Disney World: Inside Out ( i miss that show:cry: ), the concerts from Walt Disney World, and shows like Growing Pains (even though I think they showed it a little too much), and Flash Forward. Things really started to slide around 1999 when they started showing Britney, NSYNC, and Jessica Simpson music videos, and again changed the logo to the multi-colored Mickey ear shaped tv from the black. They still had some good shows like 2 Hour Tour, where people auditioned and competed to be opening acts for people like Christina Aguilera, other behind the scenes shows, Bug Juice, Imaginner That with Tom Morrow 2.0 and Vault Disney.
Then around 2001, 2002, you would be lucky if you saw anything even resembling Mickey at all on the channel, besides that logo. Then around fall 2002 when they changed the logo again to what it is today, and the programming just went to hell, with shows like Even Stevens and Lizzie McGuire which seemed to be on back to back 24 hours a day.Dont even get me started on that mess known as Zoog Disney.Yes the channel has changed and I am glad I still have lots of old VHS tapes with the old Disney Channel on them to look back on and all the old commercials too.I dont think the channel will ever be what it was again but I do see some things getting better, like before the shows they have statred using more creative ways to introduce their logo again just like they used to, and some ok shows ( well one ok show) Thats So Raven (you really cant expect much these days). I am glad I am not a kid these days because they are getting gyped and not getting the real Disney brand like Walt would have wanted it, to entertain everyone, not just 9-11 year olds.

I completely agree with all of you. I was one of the "younger generation" people while TDC was still quality, but I still remember it well. I loved how there were no commerical breaks during movies because it made it much easier to tape movies without having about ten breaks in between. I also loved the Disney Afternoon, and it makes me angry that all the Disney Channel 's recent cartoons got moved onto Toon Disney in the old cartoons' places.

I loved Inside Out too! I've got a few episodes on VHS.

Don't be mad. Toon Disney doesn't even show Disney stuff anymore. They stopped airing the classic cartoons, and are showing non-stop "hip and edgy" anime crap. I don't know why they're still calling it Toon Disney if they're barely showing any Disney stuff on it anymore.:(

Those stations that I'm talking about include BET, MTV, VH1 - music stations that hardly play music or have strayed away from the format that put them on the block in the first place - to name a few.

VH1 has VH1 Classic now that does play pretty much all videos. I'm about 90% sure it's all videos. Anyhow.. I think Disney ought to go the same route. Disney Classic with all of the older shows/cartoons we've been talking about.

Why not just move the Disney Channels programing to ABC Family to help that station out and then air the good stuff for us on Disney Channel? :D Works for me!

Dont even get me started on this one-lol

I got Disney Channel the first year it started I think in 1984ish.It wasnt even a 24 hour channel-started at 6am and ended at midnight.

I really enjoyed the channel back then since I have always been a big Disney freak (my first b-day cake was MICKEY) an now that I think about it im 35 and still have MICKEY on my b-day cakes.

It used to be a great channel for all ages. Now it 95% geared towards under 14.I do understand howerever why they are doing this in a way.As much as us true Disney freaks loved the old channel it was loosing ground fast to hip channels like cartoon network and Nickalodeon.A matter a fact Anne Sweeney is the one of th emost powerful woman in Hollywood because of how she made Disney Channel so popular with lots of franchises popping up like Raven and many others.

I MISS THESE FOLLOWING .......

A-Danger bay

b-WDW Inside Out-both versions with Scott Harriet and then with the trio with Goerge Foreman and JD Roth.

c-IMAGINE- they were 5 minute shorts between shows that showcased new technology at WDW and new attractions at Epcot and the host was Eric Borg a something(forgot his last name)

d-zoro

e-Vault Disney

f-Scarecrow( I think thats the name)

and all the old classic Disney that always was on:cry:
