I'll make one part of Pooh's Corner into a Tiana owned pastry shop, if you aren't going to make Hungry Bear Tiana's Palace. Otherwise I'll do something else.
I'd kill for Tiana's beignets (which I think would be similar to Cafe du Monde's, if not better), so I'm all for this. Although, isn't the French Market or the Mint Julep place already serving pastries?

Hm, but isn't NOS' restaurants more Creole than Cajun? I might be wrong though.

But yeah, traditional southern food (or even soul food from Mississippi) sounds great! Some of the bayous of New Orleans are part of the Mississippi River Delta anyway.

It's funny, despite going to DL many times I've never eaten at NOS. But on the Disneyland Website, Blue Bayou calls itself "Cajun and Creole cuisine", Cafe Orleans calls itself "Cajun charm", and the French Market calls itself "Cajun and Creole favorites" so I think they use both together.

Yep, Mint Julep has beignets.

Alright, I'll stick to the candy counter that they have in Pooh Corner right now (just without the Pooh theming).

If you're sticking with the PATF theming, you can theme it to Mama Odie's Swampy Delights, I think. She has a scene in the film with "candy" (in actuality, random candy-sized objects):

I think I'll make Tiana the proprietor (I want there to be some element of Tiana operating a business considering that its an important part of the movie) while Mama Odie operates the kitchen. Along with candy, maybe there could be cooking supplies too.

So this'll replace the part of Pooh's Corner closest to the Pooh ride. Didn't know what to do with the tree at the entrance, so I made it a cave, I can change it back to a tree if you all feel like that fits the Bayou setting a bit more.

Tiana’s Supplies and Sweets: For the Mardi Gras Festival, Tiana has renovated a former Saloon into a kitchen goods and candy store. Mama Odie operates the kitchen as Tiana is away organizing the party adding her own unique magic to the confectioneries.

Sells cooking books, mittens, aprons, and other cooking tools. On the sweets side: you can expect the standard Disneyland candy along with caramel apples, fudge, etc.

The exterior building is covered in red siding with a large wooden green balcony out front. What looks to be a stone cave (left over from its brief conversion as a makeshift zoo) serves as the main entrance.

Inside there’s brick supports and a bright pumpkin orange wallpaper. Elegant chandeliers hang from the ceiling. There’s a counter on the left hand side of the room filled with sweets of all kinds with a sign above that reads “Mama Odie’s Swampy Delights .There’s a small alcove with a window where you can see the candy making process. On the top of this niche, there’s a giant cauldron that occasionally exerts of smoke and on the walls there are shelves with containers filled with liquids of many colors.

Bayou Fishing Adventure
Welcome to the Little Tensas Fishing Company. Fishing in the Lousiana Bayou can be a dangerous prospect. You never know what might be lurking below the surface.

But don't worry! The Little Tensas Fishing Company is the safest angling operation on this side of the bayou! Of course, they are only that by default, considering they're the only ones stupid enough to fish in the haunted zone but no matter, they're very very safe!

Now this right here is the Little Tensas herself, the namesake of the company. Well not really this is the eleventh version the other ten all sunk but no worries you'll be real safe on this here boat. Just don't step over there, wood's gotten all moldy and you might slip through. Now four per boat so step right along and soon we'll be out in the bayou!

While we're out in the Bayou make sure not to fall off the boat. See Old Tim right there? Yeah you don't because he fell off the boat. Because we'll be doing this here adventure at night, you are all equipped with fog lights from the Little Tensas 11. Keep a close eye for anything. Some say there are hungry gators in the swamp. Others say it's haunted, and that's the reason why the company's lost all its sailors.

Oh did I mention this is also my first time too? Still working on the brakes but my steerings good. You're all in really safe hands!

I think a cave definitely works for this too$

So this'll replace the middle section of Pooh's Corner (a.k.a formally Teddi Barra's Swinging Arcade)
Jouets Du Marais: A toy store located inbetween Tiana’s Supplies and Sweets and Morris Clothes Limited. It’s housed in a building that looks like a stately Louisiana manor covered in moss.

The interior compared to the nearby Tiana’s is woodsy and rustic. Shelves cover the walls filled with all kinds of play things. Lanterns hang from the ceiling. There’s a mural behind the cashier that shows children playing underneath the stars in the sky.

Hey @AceAstro I'll also sign up for the Explorer Canoes as a second job after all I just got one more shop to work on.

That all looks awesome!

And with that update, it leaves the presentation for Pix to put together!

Final store description, for the part of Pooh's Corner closest to Splash Mountain:
Mortis Clothes Limited: Formerly owned by a trio of frog hunters, it was later bought out by rich Texan businessman Justin Mortis, who became interested in clothing during his time in Europe during the Great War.

It sells clothing, hats, and pins.

It’s the shortest building in the Bayou shopping row, but also has the largest floor space of them all. It has a similar styled rustic interior like Jouets Du Marais, but the lanterns have much more of an art-deco style. On the shelves behind the cashier there are antique 1920’s styled shoes, campaign buttons, and hats.

Here's my working draft for the introduction. I tried to integrate some swamp slang in it.

Team NuOrbis presents
New Orleans Square - Bayou Country
Logo2_Transparent.png

Bonjour, mes amis! Welcome to the Bayou Country, the newest land in the Disneyland Resort and the very edge of New Orleans! Come explore the hidden wonders of this marshland and discover the magic of the swamp.

As soon as you cross the stone bridge away from the hustle and bustle of New Orleans Square, your fun-filled adventure begins. In fact, a bayou fais-do-do is being celebrated in your honor. Princess Tiana and Louis the Alligator (The Princess and the Frog) are expecting you in Tiana's Riverside Jubilee, as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance! For those wanting a more peaceful oar-venture, the Explorer Canoes on the Rivers of America is open for business. For more daring visitors, the darker side of the bayou awaits you in the Bayou Fishing Adventure, a high-speed chase in the dark. Beware of hungry hungry gators on the prowl for their next meal!

At the end of your adventure in the bayou, drop by the Hungry Bear Restaurant for a quick bite of Mississippian delights and soul food. For the ones with a sweet tooth, Mama Odie's Swampy Delights is the place to be. The eccentric Mama Odie is running the shop, so prepare yourselves for "otherworldly" confections! For those wanting a taste of New Orleans here in the bayou, The Gumbo Pot is offering Tiana's famous swamp gumbo (no large pumpkins involved as a kitchen tool, merci beaucoup) as well as other fabulous food items.

Needing some souvenirs as proof of your adventure to your friends? No problem! Bayou Country has an array of charming shops repurposed from previously-existing structures. For the touristy type, rush to Mortis Clothes Limited, a clothing shop full of Bayou Country-inspired apparel. For the royalty type, you may want to visit Prince Naveen's Cabin, a rustic getaway for our resident royalty filled with Maldonian souvenirs and trinkets. For the kitchen whiz types, seek out Tiana's Supplies and Sweets to get her latest cookbook featuring some of her heirloom family recipes and some of her favorite kitchen supplies. Finally, for the younger ones, look for the Jouet du Marais, a shop filled to the brim with unique toys from one of the finest toymakers in New Orleans.

We can't wait to meet you down here in the bayou. Y'all take care of yourselves now, and à très bientôt in Bayou Country!

Right, so here are my bullet points for the overview. Let me know if I missed something or you have some contentions to the plan:

The Look of Bayou Country
  • Based on two places: Barataria Preserve in Louisiana and the Blue Bayou Restaurant in New Orleans Square
    • The first will provide the setting, the second will provide the atmosphere
The Changes from Critter Country to Bayou Country
  • Multi-phased transformation, based on the division of Critter Country (East CC is The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Hungry Bear Restaurant, and Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes; West CC is Splash Mountain, Pooh Corner, and Harbour Galley)
  • Phase 1: "Levelling" of West Critter Country - will happen as soon as Splash Mountain goes down for the retheme
    • East Critter Country will still be operational, with limited access to it (only from Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge)
    • Raising of thematic construction fences from Harbour Galley, around Splash Mountain, until Pooh Corner
    • Retheming of Splash Mountain, Harbour Galley, and Pooh Corner
    • Removal of all Critter Country and Splash Mountain-related theming
    • Removal of non-bayouesque foliage (i.e. pine trees) and replacement by young bald cypress trees (still looking for the Californian horticulturalist friend...)
    • Retheming of some current concrete paths into thematic "wooden" pathways
    • Retheming of the current bridgeway from New Orleans Square into Critter Country into a stone bridge, reminiscent of the one found in City Park in New Orleans
  • PR Announcement on the Disney Parks Blog: "One Last Birthday Party For Now, Pooh: The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh Will Move to Fantasyland"
    • "After entertaining our guests in Critter Country for 18 years, Winnie the Pooh and his friends will pack up their bags and head over to Fantasyland. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh will be moved to the current site of the Fantasyland Theatre as part of our ambitious multi-phased retheming of Critter Country into Bayou Country. An exciting brand-new attraction, similar to the swampland tours in the bayous of Louisiana, will take its place."
    • "As such, Mickey and the Magical Map at the current Fantasyland Theatre will temporarily move into Disney California Adventure's Sunset Showcase Theatre (running concurrently with Mickey's PhilharMagic). A brand new, state-of-the-art, and fully airconditioned theater will also rise on the site of the current Fantasyland Theatre, alongside a new facility for The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Once the new theater has been completed, performances of Mickey and the Magical Map will resume there."
  • Phase 2: "Levelling" of East Critter Country - will happen as soon as Tiana's Riverboat Jubilee and shops officially open
    • West Critter Country will be operational, with limited access to it (only from New Orleans Square)
    • East Critter Country (and the land's sole restrooms, sorry guests, just go to New Orleans Square) goes down
    • Raising of thematic construction fences from the exit of Winnie the Pooh, Hungry Bear Restaurant, until Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes
    • Removal of the covered bridge (entrance of the Winnie the Pooh ride)
    • Replacement of the WTP queue with "wooden pathways"
    • Raising the water level within the river found in the queue and removal of WTP props
    • Construction of brand-new "bayou riverside shed" for the Explorer Canoes entrance
    • Retheming of the Hungry Bear Restaurant into a soul food experience (P.S. @AceAstro, perhaps get an African-American chef specializing in soul food for this? Say it's a partnership between Disney and this chef)

Great post! Only thing I'm not sure about is if the Sunset Showcase Theater has large enough backstage facilities to support a live show. Maybe we could use the nearby Stage 17 space (former Who Wants To Be a Millionaire location).

I was originally going to suggest the Main Street Opera House (just to keep it within Disneyland Park), but I think that has even smaller backstage space. Stage 17 seems to be the perfect one!

wow @montydysquith-navarro !! Great work on both of those!!
Thanks! I'm trying to get everything I could think of for this project out of my mind and into the thread before I get busy with some upcoming house chores. Just let me know what needs improvement/correcting, and I'll get right to it as soon as I can (especially with the deadline looming over us).
