One Man’s Dream: The Musical
Well, I guess I'm putting Journey into Imagination back on the table. If you have a good idea for an attraction-based show, do it.
That was me! If you want to get the band back together I'm all for it.Woohoo new team!
Matching Avatars? Nintendo would be an easy answer, but I've been watching Community and could definitely see that being good. 7 of us, the Greendale Seven. it lines up! It would certainly help our team be streets ahead!
Anyways, back on topic!
In season 14 I was a part of similar prompt. It was to do a broadway style theme park show based on a movie that has never been adapted to broadway, or any other live stage show format like Cruise lines. We went with Pinocchio and made it a musical. I remember that was the first time I wrote a song and somebody (I can't remember who, @JokersWild was that you?) wrote music for it and @DisneyManOne wrote an entire script. It was crazy and a ton of fun!
My two biggest ideas were the same two I remember suggesting back then:
Wreck-it-Ralph the musical. Mostly because I could see Ralph having a pretty killer "I want" song and then Vanellope could sing a reprise it in her home when he sees it and THEN they could reprise it a third time together as a happy version at the end. and/or a short, sad, emotional reprise together when he smashes her car
Up the Musical. No real reasoning beyond liking the movie and thinking you could do some cool stuff with puppetry and effects.
I could see that being a lot of fun!3. The Emperor’s New Groove: The Musical
Any excuse for more Kronk. Not to mention, the deleted song ,”Snuff Out the Light”, can be included.
In the past, I've heard folks suggest a musical based on The Nightmare Before Christmas.
3 words: A Goofy Musical
Actually, here's an idea for something pretty different that just struck me as musical inspiration: Journey into Imagination.
Haunted Mansion would be amazing, but I think that the other team is looking at it.I could see that being a lot of fun!
That could be a really great choice, and Beetlejuice the Musical proves there is a market for this.
I love that just for the name alone! I'm having trouble picturing how a live action goofy and max would look though lol
That could be really cool! It would be more work having to craft our own plot though. But a mostly blank slate could be a lot of fun!
Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion could both be really interesting musicals based on theme park rides too! But again, would need a lot of extra work from us coming up with more of a plot and characters.
Cool ideas! They would need a bit more time, but that could just mean they'd offer plenty of possibilities.Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion could both be really interesting musicals based on theme park rides too! We could get high concept and do “Disneyland: The Musical” but I think that they may be pushing it
Getting a show theme sooner rather than later could help. Having a PM might help with that too.Cool ideas! They would need a bit more time, but that could just mean they'd offer plenty of possibilities.
Considering how intensive this round is probably going to get in terms of making content, should we decide on a show sooner rather than later?
We could try a three-vote thing. Everyone picks three of the ideas, and whichever one gets the most votes, we go with.Boy, there are so many good ideas we've suggested so far... how are we ever going to decide?
Ya know, I'm usually against super hero stage shows on the principle that stage fighting (especially with super powers) rarely looks good. BUT you really are starting to sell me on it.Here’s a more in depth pitch for The Incredibles: The Musical
-We begin with a song called “Glory Days” that re-tells how “supers” became illegal as well as introducing Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, and Syndrome
-A “want” song sung by Bob Parr after being fired
-“Zero to Hero” type song when Bob is getting in shape
-Edna Mode gets a fast paced song about fashion
-Syndrome gets a song maybe called “When Everyone’s Super”
-Giant Omnidroid puppet
Yeah, I’d definitely focus more on the story and characters. Besides, the Incredibles doesn’t have that many fight scenes either.Ya know, I'm usually against super hero stage shows on the principle that stage fighting (especially with super powers) rarely looks good.
