Following in the footsteps of Susie (:D), I now have my first car. I bought it for $1000 from my uncle. It's a 91 Cadillac Sedan Deville with red leather interior and a 4.9L V8 engine. I can't drive it yet though because I have to pay for tag, registration, and insurance payment. So it'll be a while. I can't wait to be able to drive it, though. Here's some pics....

some advice...

1- sales tax on the car can be quite a bit.. but the DMV goes by the amount of sale written on the title ;)

2- do NOT go with the cheapest insurance you can get. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE!

3- driving a caddy makes gas mileage an issue... the biggest factor regarding gas mileage is your right foot.

It's HarmonioUS, NOT HarmoniYOU.
also.. to add to rob's list

-the O2 sensors on ALL caddys cost a small fortune, if they go out... your looking at least $400 a piece to reaplce them. NOT fun... and they do go out kinda more often than normal compared to other 1990's GM brands.

My moms 99 Eldo with the V8 Northstar... recently, I just took it to go get all the sensors replaced so it would pass emmisions with no prob... (Oxy sensor error kept coming up in the drivers information display) that cost $1200... JUST for sensors. Ugh.. :( :brick:

Nice Car though :) :sohappy: :sohappy:

Thanks for the advice guys. As far as the sales tax, we already went over that and we're just gonna say he sold it to me for 100 or 200 (shhh it's a secret), and for insurance I'm just going to be added onto my parent's insurance, so I'll have to pay whatever the increase is to theirs. Yea, gas is gonna be a pretty big problem, but I consider myself a respondible driver I mean I don't go around racing and stuff. Also Gate Gas Cards are a very good Christmas gift.
That's bad about the sensors and stuff. I wasn't aware. The only problem like that I knew about was the ignition key that has a little black computer chip on it and it costs a heck of a lot to make a new key because of it. My grandpa has been driving nothing but 85-93 Cadillacs for a long time and he told me that parts are expensive but if you treat them right Cadillac parts last longer than most. I'm not sure if that's true or not though.

Don't worry. The O2 sensors for your engine are not expensive at all. About $26.00 and $28.00. See the following link to look up your car and engine:

Also, they are easy to replace yourself if you have a few tools and don't want to pay the labor for a mechanic.

That's a nice car! Take good care of it and Happy Motoring.

 This will be a very rare breed of Cadillac: one without rap blasting from the speakers but instead if will have music that requires talent i.e. Aerosmith, Guns N Roses, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, Goo Goo Dolls, Incubus, etc...
