November or December

We are still looking at our options for when to go to disney. Any suggestion as to when is a good week, crowd wise, to go in Nov or Dec. We do not want to be there at Christmas or American Thanks giving as we know this is a crazy time.
Thanks

I think any time in November would be good except the weekend of the actual Thanksgiving holiday. The first weeks of December should also be okay. Once schools start letting out for winter break...

I'm a big fan of the first going into the second week of December. We where there this past year and crowds were low and weather was beautiful (shorts and shirts and light jacket all week).

Second week of December should be great. Christmas decorations will be up and the weather generally warm for you being from New England! I know it's nice for me from Wisconsin!

It is a great time weather wise. This past Dec it was packed We stood in lines over an hour on most of the top rides. Buses were overloaded... i was so disappointed as the year before it was just perfect. No longer than 20 minute waits etc. The fireworks at the castle last year were a nightmare. It took us 45 minutes to get out of that immediate area. Scooters and strollers would just stand in the way and jam up the whole hub where no one was moving and it got hot in there. I hope this year will be better...

What exact dates did you go in December 2008?

Dec 5-14 last year I think it was on Christmas party night though and they oversold on tickets. It was horrible. Masses of too many people and too many EVC's. We are going Dec 8-17th again this year but that is because we cannot leave our business until then otherwise I think I would change to the week after Thanksgiving. We are not going to the party this year even though I loved it especially the parade. It is the best.... Also going to miss the weekend and go to Nasa and explore a bit on Sat the 12 and Sun 13 to avoid the masses and then back Sun night. We will keep our room just not use park days there.

I see you are from Arlington... I used to do shows there many years ago. Now just sell at Canton and that week is best as it is right after our last Canton of the year.

What dates are you going to be there I see you are staying at POP as well this will be our first time there?? Usually AS Music

I am going Sunday November 29-December 4. I have always gone in September for free dining. I decided to finally go during Christmas to see the parks and resorts all decorated for the holidays. I will be doing MVMCP on Tuesday December 1. I heard that is a very slow night due to it being during the week and is not the DVC night. I was asking specific what specific dates were crowded, I am so use to September light crowds and was thinking I may have made a bad choice in the dates I picked.

So if I understand your post correctly you were saying that the Magic Kingdom was packed just the one night that you went and it was a party night. How were the other parks that week?

They all were busy this past time. We really enjoy going to DHS especially at Dec Christmas time. You will never want to go any other time of the year after going in Dec. The Osborne lights just put you in the best mood as well as all the parks. It's the most perfect time to go weather wise etc, but it did rain on one day that week in the morning and then was just chilly but us Texans had our shorts on and just kept plugging. I am not sure if it was party night. I am thinking so because someone said they oversold it and it was a Tuesday night. Slowest and cheapest time to go. Maybe that is why. But if you do the party make sure you do not get stuck right in the middle of the whole hub there. You will never get out and we wasted very valubale ride time just trying to get out. Lots of rude people just standing and blocking up everything and visiting...You will have a great time and like us will probably never go back to Six Flags. It just is boring after being at Disney...Especially Christmas decoration time

If you want to see the Christmas decorations, you'll want to go on one of the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We've gone the 3rd week of December for the past 2 years, and had a really good time - crowds were relatively light, the weather was actually hot enough for the kids to swim, and also did the Christmas party, which is a lot of fun.

I think I've read on here that there is some kind of cheerleading thing going on the 1st week of December.

There is cheerleading and also the POP Warner bunch of football leagues. But we have never had an issue with them. I think they stay at Sports and PORQ. I do not know why people worry about them as there are kids at Disney regardless. You will love it especially the fake snow while at the osborne lights and the snow on your party night. You know we never get any of that stuff here in Texas and if we do it melts. Of course this is fake but all the same it feels like Christmas.

My family and I have gone to WDW swapping between the first and second weeks of December for the past few years. (We use the annual pass which we find very cost effective). The first couple of years we have found the parks with light crowds but over the years have found that the crowds are getting heavier. This year we have booked in from 23 - 30 December and are expecting large crowds but don't think that it will be worse than we have been seeing the beginning of the month. Possibly this year it will be lighter due to the economy (but not betting on it).

190 days to VWL :xmas::xmas::xmas:
