November/December 2010

Hi All,
Ok so we are thinking of going back to Disney World (woo hoo!!!) in late November/first week in December 2010. And i was wondering a few things:

- What is the weather like? I know what the averages ay, but i wanted a realistic view of the weather - is the climate changing (like ours is in the UK) does it get a lot colder more often in Florida??

- Will Typhoon Lagoon be open for our trip in 2010? Is it too cold to relax on the sandy beaches all day at this time of year? Is it too chilly to go round the lazy river?

- Are the disney events worth the cooler weather? (we are used to our holidays being hot sunny ones and we have never been to Orlando in Dec time.)

- Will aquatica and Discovery cove be open/bearable? (sorry not disney i know)

- We are trying to decide between Nov/Early Dec 2010 and April 2011 (we have been in April before and loved the weather) Basically we want it to feel like a summer holiday still but without the crowds and the extreme heat/rain of summer. When would you recomend going?

Thanks so much for reading this and i look forward to any responses,

I've gone in December a few times, normally I wear shorts and a t-shirt during the day and carry a hoodie for a night. I don't always need the hoodie, but they can come in handy from time to time.

Depending on the refurb schedule, one of the water parks will be open. This past December during my stay, Blizzard Beach was closed for a refurb and Typhoon Lagoon was open.

- Are the disney events worth the cooler weather? (we are used to our holidays being hot sunny ones and we have never been to Orlando in Dec time.)

It won't really be that cold, so don't think the January numbers are an indication. But yeah, the special events are worth it. Disney goes all out for the Christmas season and it shows.

- Will aquatica and Discovery cove be open/bearable? (sorry not disney i know)

Not sure about this one.

Early December!

While I haven't done December, I have done the 2nd week of November the last two years and the weather was like night and day. Last year we needed pants and sweatshirts at night, this year was shorts. So it's hard to tell the weather.

We have done April also, and absolutely love the April weather better, BUT love the Christmas season - as we always do the Mickey Very Merry Christmas Party. So we just do it twice a year - April and November. Only solution!

I have been in both November and December. The times I have gone in December have been anywhere from 50's - 80's lol. It can change everyday. I went a few weeks ago and it was 70 one day and 52 the next, dipping into freezing points over night. I didn't mind it (coming from Massachusetts where it was -8 with the wind chill). As long as the sun is out I'm happy. But I would definitely pack some extra sweatshirts/jackets.

Usually in the winter only one park is open at a time. Blizzard Beach was open when we were there a few weeks ago, but Typhoon Lagoon was closed for refurbishments. But they will close the water parks if the weather is too cold.

Christmas time in WDW is unlike any other place. Its extra magical if you ask me! The decorations are beautiful, the music, the atmosphere, the "snow" on Main Street. Epcot is especially beautiful at Christmas time too. I think its worth the cooler weather to experience WDW at Christmas time.

I have been in October and I really loved the weather. It was perfect. Even November was perfect when we went on our honeymoon. And it was decorated for Christmas (we went the second week). It was sunny, in the 70's, and not too hot that we would be all sweaty lol. December and January are more likely to dip into cooler temps.

Hope I could be of some help!!!
