Holidays at Universal Orlando begins December 6th with Grinchmas at Islands of Adventure and the Macy's Holiday Parade at the Studios.

Mel's Drive-In is currently closed for a kitchen refurbishment.

James, I've not been to Universal since I lived in Florida...

Is the Mummy ride where King Kong was? Is that the old Ghostbusters show was?

I'll bet they're kicking themselves for tearing down the Ghostbusters firehouse with a new version of Ghostbuster being filmed.

it's not being torn down... it's being changed so the coaster would be going through where the window was... at least according to the model I saw at IAAPA, it even had the firehouse texture there while the rest of the model was left mostly blank...

Aw, c'mon! I could have easily spent a half-hour talking to him and suspiciously eyeing the Delorean and the train before joyriding with one of 'em. :lookaroun

poor doc. i often visit him every time i pass by Universal. Doc, along with the delorean and the train from BTTF 3 are the 3 elements from BTTF that remain @ Universal.

Does anyone have any links to the model of Rip Ride and Rockit (or whatever it may be called)?

From what I've seen, Hollywood Dream at Universal Studios Japan fits in quite nicely... not completely "blended", mind you, but it looks quite nice with the surroundings.

It's the first thing I thought of when I heard of UO adding a "perimeter coaster".

I don't really mind as much as I first did now that I see the design. The only part of the park that it'll hurt too much is the NY section where it comes through, but to be honest they don't really utilize that part of the park anyhow. The main areas should be fine. However I am concerned about it intruding in the sight lines of things like Jaws. Currently when I ride Jaws I can't see anything but the Amity area from the ride which really allows you to be immersed. I hope I don't see a coaster shooting up in the background of that ride though.

I don't think this ride will ruin the theme nearly as much as the one in Japan does. They have big footers right down in the middle of the Hollywood section. Most of these footers will be either in production central, citywalk, or backstage so it won't ruin anything but the one small NY section.
