When I talked to GS at the MK, I was told the decission wasn't made yet. I get back and find the e-mail saying they are not going to have the Christmas CBJ this year.

With this decision Disney has made sure that I will not be visiting this Christmas season. I could care less about the parade, shows, etc... The magic about the country bears is that there was no time element to it. Everything Christmas is always so rush, rush. here I could decide when and how often I wanted to see it. The last year it was open I visited a few days just for that reason and saw it over 10 times.

Disney wants to argue that changing it doesn't change attendance. Well you lost a family of 5 for a week stay last year, and again this year. We might be small numbers but we are numbers.

I can honestly say I'm very disapointed with this decision. Well the letter writing and trips to guest relations (for those there) shall not stop, or else we might see the chirtmas set up for auction in the months to follow. Disney you really lost some magic for me on this one...

I really liked it when I saw it two years ago.

I'll miss it when I go up for Christmas this year again.

If things keep going the way they are, looks like the first time I saw it will also be my last.

In one respect, I can see why Disney would say no. It is an extensive job redoing the entire show every year for the holiday season.

But it still cool to see it and it added to the Christmas feeling. It was one of the few specially done holiday attractions at WDW.

Thank you so much. I have never seen the show and am eagerly awaiting the download to complete!

(Shameless plug)

Or you could also view the one I did on YouTube, which is an edited one that I thankfully shot the last year it played.

Like Scott, there a few improvements I wish I could makes(Like shooting it with a digital camera, for starters), but still it came out really well.

But if it dosen't play again, this doesn't bode well at all for the bears.

I received a letter from Disney. The letter said that they are not having Christmas CBJ. The letter basically said that there will be plenty of other entertainment that's in the parks that we could enjoy.

That's the official PR and Guest Service method: bypass the complaint and get them to say something positive ASAP.

I think we need to start anticipating that method in our letters. Maybe a paragraph that says something to the effect of:

"I understand that there is a lot to enjoy in the parks even without Country Bear Christmas, but the underlying issue is that not performing CBC, Disney is offering less than in previous years, and more importantly, less than its best. This company has consistently offered its best, and offering mere adequacy is insufficient given the company's rich history...."

Yeah as long as you are willing to shell out the money for the Christmas Party.

To be honest I don't like CBJ. It's the only thing at WDW to me that feels cheesy and that I will actually avoid. I know it's supposed to be a little corny, but IMO it just seemed dirty and hopelessly outdated. I would like to see this replaced by a new show that's a little more interesting. But, I think I'm in the minority on this opinion.

Even with this mentality, I would think you'd be an advocate for CBC. It's not like it would cost anything, so no resources would be taken from other more deserving attractions. Further, it shows Disney is at least putting some 'effort' into the attraction, instead of ignoring it and let it deteriorate further. You may want to see the attraction replaced, but as long as it's there, it shouldn't be any more corny than originally intended by seeming even more dated, should it?

I guess if it makes others happy then I'm for CBC. It seems like it is easy to do and cheap, but there must be a reason Disney doesn't do it anymore. Considering all of the money being put back into other classic attractions, I would also think that CBJ is due for something.

I am totally on your side and letters should be written. HOWEVER, if you have been following postings over the past year, you would have found out that you are off base with the reasons.

The problem is licensing of the songs for the show with some owners DEMANDING significant increases from Disney.

Disney has been negotiating in good faith, but has also been working on a revised show with music that they own so that guests won't be held at ransom by third party thieves in the future.

Don't think this one is Disney. It's not. Take my word, I know.
