So this may be sacreligous, but bear with me please... Is anyone thinking about not going in 2012? I ask because of what I see as the convergence of at least three things: 1) the opening of the new Fantasyland expansion area, 2) the closing of SWSA and 3) the 6-month refurb of Test Track. (There may actually be more but who's counting anymore)

Now, here's my thinking: The opening of FLE is bound to draw a greater number of people into the world in general and specificially to MK, right? FLE will suck up capactiy but it would have to absorb exponetially more (well, maybe not exponentially but you get the idea) volume than is coming into the park in order to make a noticable difference elsewhere.

Now, if If SWSA closes without something else to absorb the capacity, the overall crowds in the MK are going to seem even bigger because of the volume of people headed to FLE will increase becuase the ability of SWSA to absorb capacity is taken out of the equation.

Some of those folk are bound to get fed up with the crowds, which are bound to be greater because of all of the general public touring FLE. Some of that overflow will head to EPCOT, only to find that one of the E-tickets (TT) is closed which could stress the other rides and such, making EPCOT seem overly crowded.

Not sure is AK & DHS will experience anything at the same time that could impact the perception of capacity or not.

I'm sure the wunderkind at WD have already considered all of this and probably have some contingencies in place and maybe I'm just overthinking it, but I'd like to hear your thoughts.

We're going in Sept. of 2012, and will enjoy the World the best we can if the worst case scenario happens. Hakuna Matata! :D

We have decided to not go in 2012. We have been going every year, sometimes twice, but pricing issues, (not closures) have made the decision for us. (Geez, it takes a whole weeks grocery money to buy a meal for 2). Now if there happens to be a 4/3 offer or something....who knows. I know that that isn't likely to happen again.

I'll be going back in Sept/Oct for one good reason..Even if there is no big announcement. But I will at least Celebrate the 30th Year of Epcot!!

It will take more than that to keep me from the World :). There are always closures and changes happening, we adapt and push forward.

With most of the FLE not opening until fall 2012, it would only affect you if you were going then...following your logic, you should stay away in 2013.

I'll be visiting WDW in August 2012 for a long weekend.

I don't know if we are going in 2012 or not. I was just thinking about this last night. The one thing that has really bugged me lately is the Brazilian tour groups. From what I saw on my last trip, they have kinda taken over the place. And comparing the phenomenon to my previous trips the their numbers are growing. I ran into at lest 4 different groups on our last trip (FEB). AND then to have one brake out into acheer on Soarin the whole issue is beginning to make my vacations there unpleasant.

Has anyone who has gone in the last 6 months noticed any difference with the Tour Groups lately? Growing numbers, cutting in line, cheers etc.

As of now we are planning on skipping WDW in 2012 and giving Disneyland a try among other things in the LA area. Time to try something new then return back to WDW in 2013 when FLE is complete. I beleive the 2012 FLE is only part of it.

We just got back a week and a half ago and yes the tour groups were in full force. And yes there was tons of chanting/singing and rudeness, enough to fill 4 or 5 trips. We have learned to deal with it as best as we can but its still VERY annoying. If the tour groups would behave themselves, or Disney had the guts to keep them in check, I wouldnt really have any problem with them.

On to the OP. We will be going in 2012 because it was planned about a year ago. its 2013 that is the question mark for us. It will have nothing to do with crowds and everything to do with cost. We will have 1 extra ticket to buy for my son and my daughter will need an adult ticket. Add in the ticket increases over the last few years and it will be a challenge for sure. I do see the possibility of using the DVC points and actually not going to the parks, except the water park. There is a lot to do in the area and we havent done a lot of it.

We've gone yearly the last four years, and Fantasyland has been in some state of construction during 3 of those trips!

Next year, we are tentatively considering only doing Epcot at WDW, and instead spending some time at SeaWorld and Universal (which are all too often neglected by our family).

I think I can wait until 2013 for New Fantasyland to be more complete.

We have yet to make plans but we'll need to lock in our dates at our timeshare soon. My wife has a professional obligation in October so we try to work around that and next year it will be in Puerto Rico so we'll probably do a Disney trip then. Anyway, since we're in Michigan we tend to do at least one Disney trip in either late fall or winter and crowd levels don't figure into it as much as snow levels. ;)

We're not going next year. The FL expansion is the main reason, but we're not avoiding Disney at all. It just gave us a good reason to go to DL. Not only that but it will allow us to see my family out there. I haven't been out there since 1992, so it's going to be nice to catch up with them as well as see all of the parks out that way, plus the beaches and museums. Not to mention all of the places I grew up as a kid.

Psst... if you're looking for something new in 2012, try Disneyland. They're finishing DCA's expansion/renovation in summer of 2012, and supposedly Radiator Springs Racers will be one of the most amazing rides ever built. It'll also allow you to ride Little Mermaid without having to put up with the crowds from the newness of the WDW version, and if you haven't seen Disneyland's versions of the attractions we already have, you'll may be really impressed (Pirates especially). Not to mention the cheaper admission/food prices/hotel rates, and shorter lines for everything (except, oddly, Star Tours). Considering Disneyland has made a new parade, new attraction, significant refurb, or general step forward for every thing WDW has cut, at this point I almost prefer DL over WDW. Sounds blasphemous but once you go Disneyland, you might never go back. :lookaroun

We are going Sept 2012 and can only afford to go every other year. We will have an amazing time as we appreciate WDW for what it is, its a shame when people make peoples long awaited holidays seem negetive and pointless. Its been a bad week, apologises in advance for my grumpiness! :(
