No more MVMCP photos?

I went to MVMCP on 11/17 and was disappointed that I couldn't find a location for the photos that they've had every year since I first started attending (it's become a yearly tradition). Did they eliminate them or was I just not looking in the right place?

I think the did eliminate them much like they did at MNSSHP but you received a 50% discount on your photopass pictures.

Is this just a blatant cost cutting manuever? I'm not about to rasie kane over the matter but from a guest point of view I don't see the benefit.

I disliked it when they got rid of the buttons, but seems like they offer less and less each year. I guess that's why I haven't been the last few years.

Something that I thought would be a big tradition for my family, now makes me think: do I want to spend $40 per person on snow & a holiday parade. Other than that I can get the same thing for FREE with my Annual Pass.

The reasons I heard were a little less sinister. It was a combination of complaints about long lines, poor quality photos and people receiving the wrong picture.

IMHO the 1/2 price Photopass seemed like a good compromise. Instead of the lame background you could have your picture taken in front of the castle an attraction or where ever you chose. The picture was larger with better quality and more background choices which to me was worth the $7.

I can't disagree more. I'd NEVER pay that for a photo. Why would I? I have a camera of my very own, so why would I ever pay an outrageous fee - and even at half price, it's still stupidly overpriced - for one print? I have a MNSSHP free photo and a MVMCP free photo and they're both lovely. I thought it was a great added plus to the event.

With Happy Hallowishes and Happy Holiday Wishes now viewable on non-party nights, there's no reason to spend that much money on the events anymore. Which is a damned shame if you ask me since I think they used to be very lovely, very special evenings of magic.

To each his own. We never did the free picture simply because the lines were always very long and I was never that impressed with them. To me choosing from multiple pictures on-line when I got home was a much better option.

I agree that choosing a photo is a better option. However, I feel that they could offer a coupon for a free photo online even more easily.

My wife and I were there on 11/27, and we thought the event was great. What, the dealbreaker for some people is a free photo?!? That's crazy. To us, the opportunity to be in the park with a much smaller, more pleasant and enthusiastic crowd, with the special decorations and shows was well worth the price of admission. We were able to see every show with minimal fuss, and also walked onto every ride/attraction we wanted. The photos they offered had great set-ups with the castle and tree in the background, rather than some lame printed backdrop. We had them take several and will probably pick one to have printed.

 Well, I guess this will be our last MVMCP when we go in 9 days. yaay. $40 something is too much for cookies and hot chocolate. Yes, you would miss some of the shows but disney has a lot of other shows you can see otherwise. And wishes, etc. Yes, you can do pics online, but it was the idea that they gave something away free for going to the party. We're coming, Mickey. woo hoo!!!!:xmas: :sohappy:

They are a goner. They keep raising the prices and lowering the offerings.

Boy am I glad I went last year. My trip to the MVMCP was my first one ever and I still have my picture of on my wall. I enjoyed it but I have to admit, the crouds were a lil big.

I'll pay for MNSSHP...

The lighting, the atmosphere, the candy...

WELL worth the money. Even if you see fireworks other nights.

( I hate the audio track anyways...)

MVMCP... different story. Christmas decorations up all the time (not up & down for event nights like MNSSHP)
...and I can have hot chocolate anytime at MK. Cookies?... not like the candy they give away at Halloween.

Agree 100%. MNSSHP is now a yearly tradition for us. Dressing up with the kids, the parade and getting to go trick or treating at the age of 35 is absolute nirvana for me.

No, I think everyone is saying that they keep taking stuff away instead of adding to (plussing). First it was the button, then the photo and no one noticed that Belle is gone too.

We are going back 12/12 too.

Hu? What in the world does that mean?

I think it's miserable they keep raising the prices and taking away the special "pluses" that make it a special event. If you disagree, fine. But last time I checked, we're all entitled to our opinion. Paying extra for something that used to be free? No way and no thank you.

It does seem like they keep reducing the "extra" bonuses of the parties. The worst part of getting rid of the picture is it kills some families traditions... I know my family had been going every year to MVMCP since 98ish and the picture has always been kinda a tradition. With these changes it reduces my desire to make a trip most/every year for MVMCP

I went to MNSSHP for the first time this year and was disappointed at the lack of "special" characters like I had heard about in years past... I still loved it and want to go back again but at this point I think it still has more "extras" then MVMCP now so there is more reason to go to (and pay for) that instead of MVMCP

Okay, I think I know what the problem is. We need to stop telling our friends and families how much fun we have at the world. Or better yet, don't tell them where you are going...

Disney's attendance must be way way up, which is their main goal. So we need to scare peeps off. :D

I'll be MVMCP on Dec 18, and I can't wait! This will be a short 4 day trip for us, so we probably won't visit MK other than the party. We went in 2001 and it was awesome... but that was very much due to the low low crowds for obvious sad reasons... I expect it will be a bit more crowded this time.

Oh, and the photos... well, the one we had made back in '01 was not the greatest. If it weren't free we would not have ever kept it. I like the photo pass for sure- much easier to view at home and pick a few.

No matter, A crowded day At Disney beats a great day at work any time!!!!!!

13 more days!:xmas:
