No more Jest Skis at Lights, Motors, Action?

I was at DHS yesterday and took in LMA for what seems like the bazillionth time (my five year old has to see it every time we go) and there entire water/jet ski scenario was gone. Is this temporary or permanent?

Overall, the show completely stunk. Besides no jet skis, they had a new(?) girl as the MC who was terrible and seemed to be about as bored as a person could be. The backwards car wasn't working properly and had to be brought out after the MCs had already explained how it worked – completely ruining the gag.

The funniest thing was that they had a "portly" stunt driver and a very, very skinny motorcycle driver both playing the "good guy". At one point, the chubby stunt driver gets out of his car and runs into the building, only to crash out of a window on the motorcycle a minute later. Unfortunately, because of the size difference of the two stunt men playing the same character, the entire audience erupted in laughter.

At one point, the MC asked if everyone in the audience was having a good time and nearly 2/3 of the crowd screamed "NO!" Stuff happens but all in all, everything seemed out of sync and it was one of the worst shows I've seen in a Disney Park (and LMA is normally a highlight of our trip).

The jet ski section seems to come and go. It will be there one week and then not the next. No idea what the official reason for this is.

The jet ski section is dependent on two things:

1) the weather -- if it's rainy, cold, etc they do not run that section.

2) the stunt man -- if the driver is also a stunt/gymnastics double, they do the stunt in nice weather -- not all of the drivers can do the gymnastics required for the swing-around; jump onto the jet ski; and jump off of the jet-ski.

This is the same in Paris where the attraction originated -- there, the jetski has been completely removed, so I would not be surprised to see it completely removed at DHS as well. They have added a longer motorcycle chase, though.

Don't you know how much weight you can lose by running up some stairs in nomex suits?

It just sounds like they need to work on a new show, plopping the sad cars sequence in will only make things worse.

I suggested on another thread link about having LMA changed over to a bond theme. It would have some of the same elements as LMA, but update the look of the ride and put an attention grabbing name onto the attraction. Also, it can be tied into any new releases in the bond franchise. There will be some cost to update the attraction, but not as much as having to build from scratch.

The rights would probably cost a pretty penny too...and there are already Bond attractions in other theme parks.

The reason it is not a Bond attraction is because they already TRIED that....the costs are prohibitive, and are not owned by Disney Enterprises.

I don't think you are going to see any type of re-theming with nothing really new being added to it. Remember, this is an import from Disney Studios Paris and was added to celebrate the anniversary...there is nothing dated about it, and it's only been running a couple years to full houses. Look how long the Indiana Jones stunt show has been running with no changes.

This was not an attraction that was designed to change over time.

It doesn't need a revamp -- it is full for every performance every day (except for nonpeak periods of time, and even then, the one or two shows per day pretty much pull the majority of the park visitors in for one of the shows)....

With MGM's troubles, disney should be able to get their creditors to work out something that everyone relevant can agree on. There were some interactive shows around the country called James Bond 007: A License to Thrill, they have all been removed due to poor reception. MGM is trying to build new amusement parks around the world, but the market is too competitive for a company that needs to lower its debts and increase its income.

I don't think MGM has the theme park rights.

Jim Hill has said in the past that it was an issue with the Broccolli family that derailed the Bond show before.

Well, that would be better than. I saw a story from last October, that was linked on one of the bond forums that mgm was in talks to build a 50 - 65 acre park outside of mumbai. With how poorly executed and received the license to thrill ride was, I wouldn't doubt that the Broccollis stopped it.

Honestly, I am not a fan of Lights, Motor, Action. I saw it once, and that was enough. I would rather have the Backlot tour area back.

Well, generally we love the show. That said, they could certainly tweak some things and make it a heck of a lot better:

• They need to either re-shoot the scene at the end (of the finished movie) or just get rid of it altogether. It's incredibly cheesy and obvious the stunt scenes weren't the ones from that days show.

• Shows like this need certain things that can be swapped out randomly to keep it always fresh (kinda like what they're doing with Star Tours). None of the main stunt sequences, but the parts where they're killing time waiting for setup. The part where the kid from the audience comes down and drives the "RC" car would be one; the Herbie scenario would be another (and yes, I know it's being replaced with McQueen.

In this show's case, they need to get rid of the new female MC and make sure the body types of their main stunt people are consistent! If they aren't doing the Jet Ski scene because their stunt person can't do it, then that simply needs to be part of the job requirement.

It would be a real shame of they got rid of the Jet Ski portion. To me, it adds quite a bit to the show.

Was the girl black with short hair? If that is her then I totally agree that she is terrible. I actually enjoy the Lights Motors Action Extreme Stunt Show and I have seen her several times in the show. Each time I see her its like we are watching her first show because she is just so poor on the delivery and timing of her lines!

its funny, because i too really dont need to see the show again. Ive seen it 3 times and frankly, i dont even bother anymore. But at the same time, i HAVE to see indiana jones on every visit, and that show has been the same for like 15 years.

I guess that this means a retheme may help, at least in my case and those who think like me.

i like the bond idea, and heck, while were thinking blue sky why not consider a TRON retheme? throw some led light ribbons on everything, paint it black, call it the grid, and let the show begin! The mc could be a siren ( i could stare at one of those for hours :hammer:) the soundtrack would obviously be epic and the stunts would be time lasting.

who is with me!!

We love LMA! We would hate if they are 'downsizing' the show!

(Look at my profile photo - thats us with all of the drivers! My son (ds8) is a huuuuuggge fan of the show - to the point he was an LMA driver for Halloween and had a LMA themed birthday party. It was his dream when he was allowed to sit in one of the LMA cars and grill all of the drivers about the stunts.)

No changes to LMA!!
(although the ending video is a big cheesy :ROFLOL:)

That is exactly who I'm talking about! At first I thought maybe they were going without the female MC and that she was just part of the crew who spoke now and then. She's awful and I can't believe DHS management allows her to continue in the show. She seems bored to death, which in turn, makes the audience bored. There's just zero enthusiasm and she brings the entire show down.

As for re-theming, I'm still holding out hope that at some point LMA will fall smack dab in the middle of a mini-version of CarsLand some day. If so, there may be a way to make it work with the spy and international theme of Cars 2 without having to redo the show too much.

I truly think we've become jaded by Disney at times. LMA is an impressive show, it's just not paced very well. It stands up against any stunt show I've seen including Waterworld at Universal Hollywood.

Having said that, it's not something I feel obligated to see each trip, I typically enjoy it when I do see it but rarely do I plan my day around it.
