No More Great Goofini?

With the picture of the new map showing storybook circus added, I found it interesting that the barnstormer is still called the barnstormer instead of the great goofini as seen in the concept art and such. Any idea why that might be?

Maybe they've just given up on renaming rides when people will continue to use the old name anyway. It's like the Tomorrowland Transit Authority; everyone still called it the Peoplemover, now they've gone back and made it a part of the (rather long) attraction name.

In the rumors thread I had the Fairytale Hall opening at the time Seven Dwarf's Mine Train opened. I'm sure someone with actual information can chime in here with a better time frame, but I would guess that they wouldn't close Snow White's Scary Adventures until at least Storybook Circus opens, but more likely after Little Mermaid opens.

Strictly speaking, Walt Disney World's name is "The Walt Disney World Resort" so you can add that. Also it's Circus' (The 'es' followed by an apostrophe implies that multiple circuses own the Barnstormer).

So how About "Storybook Circus' The Barnstormer: Featuring The Great Goofini part of the all-new Fantasyland Forest experience at the Magic Kingdom Park's Fantasyland, part of The Walt Disney World Resort in Florida."

Actually, it's "Walt Disney World Resort." Bob Iger hates the word "the," and will continue removing it in spite of the grammatical errors it presents.

"On our next magical vacation to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, we are going to visit Magic Kingdom Park first! Then we'll fly across the country to visit Disneyland Resort in California!"

Wait....I thought it was going to open March 12th?

It was orignally going to open in February, but the date was recently changed. Map was probably printed long before the date change happened. As for Snow White's Scary Adventures, there have been a bunch of vague rumors about a closing date, but nothing concrete.

Thanks for the correction. Much better.

It isn't just Iger. I have noticed the dropping of "the" before many words. But even more disturbing is this new habit many people have developed of beginning every answer to any question with the word "So.....". :brick:

It goes something like this,

Question: "Are you expecting good weather for your commute?"

Answer: "So, I have heard tomorrow will be clear"

Aghhhhhhhhhhhh :eek::hammer:

Sorry just a pet peeve. But stop that people!

One thing that I think some people may not have caught is that the photo of this new map (or at least the one that was linked on the WDWMagic main page) is *not* the guidemap that is handed out at the park.

The proportions and layout are all wrong. My guess is that it's either a) from a WDW Planning DVD booklet, or b) from the thicker planning booket that you can get at the hotels that shows everything there is to do in WDW, but it isn't as detailed as the regular park maps. If you look at the extreme right-hand edge of the photo, you can see the headline for a park on the facing page, most likely DHS or DAK (because it starts with a D).

These maps are notorious for having inaccuracies, or leaving out some minor attractions in the parks. And they aren't updated as often as the regular maps, so it wouldn't surprise me at all that the date and name info is not correct.

Just like they have seen the need to remove "'s" from Disney in so many places. :brick:

Attraction names just keep getting longer and longer, don't they? :lookaroun

2005 - Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show
2007 - Expedition Everest: Legend of the Forbidden Mountain
2011 - Star Tours: The Adventures Continue
2012 - The Barnstormer featuring the Great Goofini
2012 - Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid

Not that I really care; we'll always just shorten them to our little nicknames and acronyms anyway. I'll take a long-winded named attraction like EE:LOTFM over a concisely-named attraction like Stitch's Great Escape. Just an interesting trend.

You forgot one...

2010 - Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover
