No more free drinks at All Star Sports Resort

I don't know how far back your mugs go, but the old ones (like pre 2000) were much larger.
Is this the mug you're talking about?

Well if you can't find it, I'm willing to call it a myth.

It could be a myth with someone talking about the size of the sponsorship deal that disney has. Something like "Coca Cola pays Disney so much, it covers the cost of the syrup. It is like they are just giving it to disney for free."

I wonder if there will be an option to have an RFID chip implanted in your lip so you can just drink out of the soda dispenser.

My Caribbean Beach mugs were much smaller than the mugs they have now - my daughters saw them and they said - WOW - thats small - it was 1996.

The ones from the late 90's, the ones without the removable bottoms (that just led to moldy insides) were at least 18 maybe up to 22 ozs. still have a WL one.

I'm hearing reports from a second WDW hotel about the durability of the ValidFill "arms" on the dispenser, and the news is not good.

Apparently people are trying to use old mugs and when nothing happens, they try again--harder. That stress alone will cause fatigue on the material, but some users are apparently getting angry and breaking the arms on purpose.

This may also be happening with valid mugs trying to refill quickly before the wait period elapses.

Brazilians were mentioned specifically to me as breaking the delicate arms. Seems the problem is compounded because many tour group participants are selling their mugs to incoming (new) tour groups... and there is anger when the mugs don't function after the two-week limit is reached.

This transition is going to be a customer service nightmare, and now it seems like it's also going to be a maitenance hassle. They are going to have to have beverage maitenance people working overtime to ensure this doesn't effect park guests.

Well at least nobody is "stealing" from the Mouse.

It's only a phase. Once more people become aware of the new policy it will stop. A second WDW resort? Where else has this spread to?

Whats the second resort with the machines?

1) I'm sure ValidFill will be the ones taking care of it.

2) It is stealing, no matter what you may think. Red Robin offers free fries on your purchase, with replenishment. Does that mean I can come back a day later for more fries?

This is no different than any other BETA test. You expect bugs and you fix them before you go gold. The arms will get redesigned or replaced with a button.

As to the Brazilian's getting sold nonworking mugs by their fellow countrymen....my heart bleeds for them.

This made me smile Kevin.

Goes to show that the entitlement mentality is not just in the US. It's also funny that there is a secondary market for Mugs within the Brazilian Tour Groups!

Correction: it may be the original hotel, after all. My apologies.

Wonder if this will be at POP when I go in Sep. I always buy at least one mug per trip. but than again I only go once every 1 or 2 years.

1) I was not stating this to mean that Disney would have to pay people to service the machines, although I am not sure that Validfil would be sticking around to maintain the machines, it does require that more than a few people would have to be on property to keep up with the service requests.

2) I am not going down that road, even though I did use stealing parenthetically it does not mean I am not in agreement.

Wow, the Brazilians have an Organized Mug Exchange? Departing groups sell their mugs at a discount to the next groups arriving?

Disney should give them all free soda for life for being so ingenious! :ROFLOL:

I thought I had read somewhere previously that it was initially going to be installed at _____ but would eventually be installed at all of the Value resorts.

Probably this thread. They are doing the install at Sports so they can test and perfect it before rolling it out across property. If it works, of course.
