No love for Lilo?

My gf’s favorite character (and sometimes personality match), yet merch for her is so hard to come by, virtually nonexistent in the parks or Disney springs. If you want anything with Lilo, you need to get an ornament from Days of Christmas…but it’s always her with stitch or other characters, nothing solo.

I was able to find one Figpin at a random GameStop in Louisiana. Just one though, and it was on clearance markdown to $3.99 (original price was $12.99 I believe).

And Etsy has a few awesome folks keeping the fire burning for rare characters (was able to snag a “My friends need to be punished” t-shirt from there)

But overall, it’s really disheartening.
Heck, World of Disney has bins of plushy giant armadillos from Raya and the Last Dragon. They’ve got mugs celebrating one of the worst Star Wars things to ever exist (surprisingly there seems to be more Holiday Special than there is for Last Jedi)

But no Lilo.

I can feel your pain and frustration. There are so many characters that fans would love to find merch on that’s impossible to find in the parks. I can understand Dis having to be selective because they don’t want to supply stock that doesn’t move but they could have certain ones that are better known and in demand. If they are appearing in the parades and events that shows there’s popularity still going on. We search for Jiminy Cricket and can find very little in the parks but so much can be found and bought on E bay online. They’d where you’d have the better luck.

Lilo is included in that "Animator's Collection" line where it's baby princesses in little suitcases, for reasons I don't really understand (I think she's the only non-princess with one). Like half a year ago there was a fairly adorable plush of her sharing a coconut drink with Stitch, but that was for the movie anniversary and I believe they're sold out.

Not that I'm trying to detract from your point, because it's true that she gets very little and it kills me a little inside that Angel has significantly more merchandise than Lilo.

I can't speak for the rest of the US, but I've been told that the people of Hawaii are generally not fond of Lilo due to her behavior in the film. Lilo is a child processing trauma and acting out, which isn't unnatural, but was off-putting to some viewers of the film...which ultimately led to Disney removing her presence almost entirely over there and letting Stitch take the lead.

Oh, great, another problematic Disney character…

HI residents should be happy for Lilo. Anything to further promote tourism in Hawaii , their number one industry that keeps many locals employed. Aloha!

As one who lives in HI, your sentiments couldn't be further from the truth. Many Hawaiians do not want tourists in Hawaii. In fact, there is discussion about imposing a further "green" tax on all visitors to HI (everything from using beaches, hiking trails, forests, popular attractions, etc).

Can’t blame them. I assume native Hawaiians are more gawked at than the Pennsylvania Amish.

I actually think it would be neat if Hawaii was allowed to leave the US and restore its sovereign status, given the horrible way in which the US acquired it.

You must be kidding. Tourism is what supports HI economy. I have friends who live there and I have visited paradise. ( HI) These sentiments of some locals are pure stupidity if they don't want tourists in HI.

You should adopt the TDO model and charge for every little thing and sell the place twice a day, you have the attractions built in. Enough money to keep up with the damage and fund expansion. Let the howlies in!

This article states it clearly enough. Tourism is a huge strain on Hawaii’s natural resources. We pay the highest in electricity in the country, have finite water supply, not to mention the effect tourism has on the actual ecosystem. And calling the sentiments of locals “stupid” for wanting to limit tourism is exactly why they have those “sentiments”. 😕

Tourism will never go away and just get bigger to support HI number one industry. Can't wait to go back! Fact is , HI is economically dependent on tourism.
