No D23 Expo This Year?

Because it will seem grander by doing it at D23. By doing it in a event like they did with nightastic, it could go unnoticed by a lot of people. But this is on a much larger platform and could catch the attention of lots of people that otherwise would just let it slip by if it was done like nightastic was.

I agree. But, for most of the Disney Population, the D23 Announcements and the Nightastic Annoucements were the same thing. Us, gathered around our computers, on forums, on Twitter, waiting for the news to break.

The loss here, is the fact that a few people could see this first hand.

Let's all remember there has been no "official" announcement....

I believe this, and I just hope D23 continues this. I am trying to plan a D23 Expo/DL trip,so I certaintly hope they do. There is lots of potential.

I'm not necessarily meaning Disney fans. Those will know either way. This is on a much larger scale and with all of those other people there for the expo who are maybe there for just a certain division that ISN'T the theme parks, they may find out about this stuff while they are there while they wouldn't if it was just a regular announcement. Also, with it being such a big event (basically all of the Disney company on hand), there is no doubt going to be a lot of media coverage about it, far more than just the local and fanboi media you would get with a announcement like nightastic, creating more buzz around it.

The LA news paper had it.:lookaroun

Do you expect D23 to publish a PR saying "We suck"?

I agree. This was an event.

Needless to say, after both D23 and Nightastic, my newspaper (Miami Herald) ran stories on it.

I'm not overly surprised, considering how slow last year's even did seem to start off. So the pure cynic in me somewhat believes Disney is moving the D23 convention to ensure the tickets get sold and the seats get filled....

I don't think anyone thought the Expo sucked. Even you admitted that it didn't

Are you really comparing WDW's temporary summer offerings to what was announced at last D23? Apples to oranges dude

Announcing major new attractions and expansions will get people pumped up and excited to go the parks when they open. "nighttastic" not so much. Thats more of an extra incentive to try and boost attendance this summer (Attendence at the parks is in rapid decline and Disney is in full panick mode right now).

Of course not. But canceling things doesn't exactly help the image, huh?

Did I ever say that, dude?

No, I was comparing how the media was released. It was live, a select few got to see it live and in person, and the rest of us got it over the internet. And most of us were pretty happy with what was announced and what happened. I know I was.
Sorry, should have been more clear. Moving it chronologically (to every other year), not physically changing the location.

Like the Olympics!

Meh, who cares?

Disney is setting it up to fail by not offering more through the club or lowering the price, IMO. I know I won't be rejoining. I'm glad I gave it a shot, but it is not worth the money.

Now, The Expo, lets keep that around. :D

I agree, though. Disney is letting it slip here, where in past months, I had a tiny bit of hope for it with the new Tiered offerings and events that looked half worth it. Seems they are at a equilibrium right now...

...But yes, Expo! Keep it around, move it around, make it more accessible. It's great as it was. Shame that's not an "is" at the end of that sentence, I hope we get to see it again....something tells me we won't, if not in the same form or scope.
