From this point forward, this thread will be used only for me to post the competitions and for the houseguests to post their projects and ask questions. Consider the original thread the "discussion thread". With that in mind, let's meet our Houseguests...

Let's go over some ground rules. We'll first be playing a Head of Household competition. The winner of the HoH will have twelve hours to nominate two fellow houseguests for eviction. If nominations are not made within twelve hours the power will shift to the second place finisher in the challenge, and so on and so forth.

Veto will have a unique structure I think you guys will enjoy, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to that....

@Sam4D23, @JokersWild and myself will be judging each proposal on a 40 point scale based on the following rubric...

Creativity /10
Detail /10
Realism /10
Presentation /10

For a combined total of up to 120 points, making for a wide spectrum of possible scores.

For this challenge, Houseguests will be designing a single hole of miniature golf. How they want to frame it around being part of an overall larger golf course is entirely up to them, but what really matters in the presentation is how much creativity you put into the hole of golf itself. Make it as detailed as possible. The winner of the first challenge will become the first Head of Household and will be safe from eviction this week, with the power to control the nominations.

One other rule. Because of the nature of Big Brother it might not be in the best interest to win every competition. For that reason I'm introducing a "Sit Out" rule. Each houseguest will have three "sit outs" throughout the season that they can use to opt out of participating in a challenge. Houseguests must inform me of wanting to sit out within 24 hours of the challenge being posted. All houseguests will be on a three strike program for not submitting projects without sitting out. Once three strikes are up, all missing projects will result in an automatic nomination.

Hole Number 18: Pinball Classic

Featured in the latest indoor entertainment facility (complete with arcade, laser tag, and mini-golf), this hole would be the crown jewel of the “Pop Century” miniature golf course. Along the same lines as the hotel, the Pop Century golf course takes famous icons, inventions, games, and motifs from American pop culture throughout the years and turns them into innovative miniature golf course holes. Some examples are hole number 4, “The Slinky”, which takes your ball down a windy path of an oversized Slinky and down several flights of stairs in the process.

The concept for this hole is based on a pinball machine. The field is slightly tilted, at a 1/12 pitch (roughly 5° incline). The basic layout of the hole is shaped like a pinball machine, with various obstacles similar to what you would find in a pinball machine, i.e. bumpers, flippers, etc. The layout comes out to something like this:

You and your putter serve as the “plunger.” You will hit your ball up into the lane which curves around and back down the incline. The object of the hole is to sink the ball into the correct hole at the top corner of the incline. As mini-golf is generally a quicker game than a game of pinball, you will only get one chance and you will not get multiple attempts to launch your ball. The hole itself can take anywhere from 20 seconds to 3 minutes, depending on the skill/luck of the player.

A score is kept at the top of the oversized backbox. The score is generated by the ball passing over infrared sensors across the board. Hitting a bumper adds an additional amount of points to your score. Each bumper also has a sensor when it is hit and will illuminate and make noise like a pinball machine. The score is not necessary to complete the hole, but adds to the experience of playing on a pinball machine.

There are three “kickout holes” positioned around the bumpers. If your ball rolls into one of these holes, the score display will flash with colors and the music will speed up. Your ball will eventually be “kicked out” just like in pinball machine. This will also add a significant number of points to your score.

If the ball rolls into the drain (the area below the flippers) your ball will be lost and your game will be over. This is a similar practice in many mini-golf courses, where the last hole is a deposit of sorts for the balls at the end. The hole has pressure sensors and if you step onto the pinball area, then the display will read: “TILT.” If you get TILT, the backbox will darken, an obnoxious losing fanfare will play, and you will forfeit the hole and automatically lose.

The biggest twist for this hole is the ability to use fully functional over-sized flippers, which extend your ability to attempt to sink the ball into the hole. The flippers are controlled by a small panel on a stand next to the tee. You only get a certain number of uses of the flippers; you start with 3 and for every 1,000 points scored during your putt, you will gain another use of the flippers.

A recent update to the Animal Kingdom Lodge has included a new mini-golf location on Disney World Property. This mini-golf course follows with the theming of the Animal Kingdom area, taking guests through an adventure in Asia. Similar to the ride experience, Expedition Everest, at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park, guests will brave the forbidden mountain, and encounter the yeti as they attempt to survive their journey. Guests will begin by booking their trip and receiving their supplies, then, as they progress through the mini golf course, they will work their way up into the mountain, encounter the ferocious yeti, and escape back to safety. Between the 18 holes of mini-golf, guests will face various challenges. These challenges will include climbing up into the mountain, maneuvering through dark mazes, and riding a zip line out of the mountain to escape the viscous yeti. This attraction has a height requirement of 54 inches (if guests wish to partake in the obstacles), and all obstacles are optional for guests that only wish to partake in the mini-golf portion of the experience. The mini-golf only portion is open to all ages.

Hole 2: Hindu Temple 1
As this is one of the beginning levels, it is a relatively easy course to get players introduced to the game.

The black dots represent offering statues places throughout the area, the dotted line represent the entrance into the temple area.

This level of the course features both the outside and inside of a Hindu temple in the Himalayas. Prayer flags are strung throughout the place and small statues have offerings of food left on them. Guests will guide their golf ball through the entrance of the temple, and the hole will be located inside one of the offering statues located at the end of the course. Some of the offering statues (marked by black dots in the image above) will be blocking portions of the course.

Throughout this course, and Hole 3, also located inside the temple, music from the Hindu religion along with various chants will be playing in the background (Music can be found here). There are no obstacles in this area, as guests will not encounter them until they make their way into the mountain.

The following images will help show what the area will be themed like. Outside of the temple, guests will see the mountain looming in the distance. Once inside, guests will complete holes 2 and 3 before returning outside to continue their journey.

The offering statue located above the hole for this part of the course will look like this. There will be a hole on the bottom of each side of the statue for the ball to go in. Once Hole 2 is completed, the ball will then roll to the loading area of Hole 3.

The Disneyland Diamond

With 18 holes based on the park and resort that have become the Happiest Place on Earth, the Disneyland Diamond is a reference to the celebration that the resort, as well as the reason behind the backstory for the course. A diamond has been hidden in the resort even before it was built. It is a diamond imbued with the power to keep happiness and imagination in the park. Your challenge is given to you by Mickey Mouse himself. Find the diamond with special balls and keep the villains away from it's power. With various holes and character experiences with both heroes and villains within, it will be a challenge to find the diamond, but it will all go through in the end.

This is the grand finale. Where everything in the course climaxes in the most unexpected way. After greeting the Fantasyland character in the shaded area, you move on to the crowning jewel of the course. Literally. Sleeping Beauty Castle is a complex course made up of many rooms and obstacles. It all starts at the front, the castle shimmering and shining in the sun. You hit the ball through the quickly opening and closing drawbridge. If successful, an easy hole in one. If unsuccessful, another room comes in as you step into the castle through the side. and you find your ball in the dungeon. You hit the ball out of the dungeon and into the kitchens. The ball then goes into the bedrooms where Aurora slept. After the bedrooms, you shoot the ball out of the castle and, if sent into the hole, out of a small pond over the path to your final character experience comes the Disneyland Diamond. Surrounded by small dancing fountains and a grand orchestral version of When You Wish Upon a Star playing, the diamond is clear aside from what looks like an engraving of Sleeping Beauty Castle inside.

After the diamond comes and goes back into the pond, you continue for your final character experience. Mickey Mouse awaits in an air conditioned tent to congratulate you and to take a celebratory picture.

Character Experiences
The most unique part of this mini golf course, in my opinion, is the character greeting tents in between lands. These are themed to the land entrances on the outside, while on the inside, sets are elaborately themed to the film each character is from, easily changed and with easy bypass for guests who do not wish to see the characters. Character sets are 45 minutes each and are staggered out so each guest will meet 9 heroes (including Mickey) and 7 villains in total. The Fantasyland tent is the largest, featuring three rooms to accompany the massive amount of characters assigned to the land. The other tents feature 2 rooms, one hero and one villain. The smallest tent is Mickey's, with only a single room to meet the main mouse.

Joker's Putt-Putt Playground



‘Joker’s Putt-Putt Playground’ is the final hole in an exclusively-themed Batman miniature golf course. To coincide with the personality of the Joker’s character, the course is designed to frustrate players who simply want to close their game out, meaning that it will take a fair amount of skill, timing, and most importantly, luck to win the game.



Players begin across from a circus-like cannon tunnel, which is little more than a fun gag that involves the cannon spewing strong amounts of mist when the ball travels through it, triggered by a sensor within the cannon itself. Additionally, a whimsical spring-like sound effect will play as players watch their ball fly into the air toward the first of two obstacles in the course.



The ‘Un-Ferris Wheel’ as it is officially named, is a simple obstacle that takes the form of miniaturized Ferris Wheel. Four giant mallets slowly rotate forward and backward in a predictable pattern. While the mallets move slowly, it’s not as easy as it sounds! It might take a couple turns for even the most skilled player to get the ball safely across. From this point, players have two options: they can either choose to guide their ball to the left through a simple part of the course or opt to try their luck with the ‘Quinn-In-The-Box,” a minigame within the course than can either help a player during a close game or very well cost them the game. The minigame is simple. If a player so chooses, he can carefully send the ball into the hole near the bottom of the box. From there, a hidden mechanism within the box collects the ball while a giant crank on the right side of the box begins to spin. The familiar ‘Jack-In-The-Box’ tune will play as players wait eagerly for the result. Players have roughly a 1/3 chance of winning the minigame. If the odds are in their favor, a smiling icon will cause the mechanism within the box to send the ball shooting straight toward the winning hole.



More often than not, this sends the ball ricocheting through the giant mouth of the Joker and close to the hole, but some players are lucky enough so as to have the ball land straight in the hole upon winning the minigame.

Depending on the outcome of the game, players are either congratulated or taunted by the disembodied voice of Harley Quinn. When players lose the game, they hear phrases along the lines of “Hey, chump, Mr. J sends his regards!” or “I guess golf isn’t your sport. Maybe you should take on marchin’ band on somethin’.” If guests win, however, they might hear something like “Nice job, but don’t push your luck; that was Dent’s mistake” or “You’ve got some guts, kid. I wonder what they’d look like outside of ya.”


Finally, guests are met with a giant carnival-like Joker head, whose eyes occasionally peer at guests, spinning and rolling in various directions. To each side of the giant head are giant “Ha-Ha” letters attached to oversized red springs that for the most part are immobile. For unsuspecting players, however, those same letters will heckle them should they be unlucky enough as to face the wrath of the Joker during the final stretch of this course. A player might be a couple of strokes away from defeating the competition, but if the Joker has his way, the game will be extended to the detriment of some players and the advantage of others. Located at the foot of the Joker’s mouth is a hidden trapdoor embedded into the turf. Players have roughly a 5/6 chance of successfully sending the ball safely across the Joker’s mouth, which are fairly good odds, but on the off chance that they should trigger the trapdoor, their ball will be sent back to the start of the course via underground tunnel. Players can opt to hit their ball in such a manner that sends it over the trapdoor, but this almost always results in the ball flying out of bounds, rendering such a strategy ineffective. When players are unfortunate enough as to have their ball make its way back to the start of the course, the giant ‘Ha-Ha” letters will spring to life, bouncing playfully as the Joker himself is heard over the PA system, uttering one of four lines:

1. Oh, what a putt-iful turn of events! Better luck next time!

2. I guess the joke’s on you this time ‘round. Oh well, someone has to finish last!

3. Oh, the game is rigged? How clever of you to notice. Please tell me more from all the way back there.

4. I had a good feeling about you from the start, but it’s even better now that I get to send you packin’!

After overcoming all of the described obstacles, players have only to send the ball into the final hole, where the Joker’s familiar “Bang!” flag waits for them. Unfair at times and often unpredictable, Joker’s Putt-Putt Playground is an otherwise satisfying ending to an overall extensive golf course.

The Walt Disney Company has announced the opening of a new indoor miniature golf course outside of DHS that is themed to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It will open in 2020, with each of the 12 holes representing a different character.

1. Iron Man
2. Hulk

5. Spider Man
6. Black Widow
7. Ant Man
8. Black Panther
9. Scarlet Witch
10. Daredevil
11. Dr. Strange
12. Loki

I will be presenting the Spider Man hole. The walls inside will be themed to NYC, with a Spider Man statue attached to the wall with web, while also webbing a net for your ball to pass a gap on. After passing the gap, you can go around, or try to go through a gap just big enough to fit the ball.
