Nine Dragons Question

We have never eaten here before and I am considering this as one of our dining options. I see for lunch they have something called the taste of china for $14.75. Is this served buffet style, family style at your table etc. I think it could be worth it except for littlest ds who is very picky. Any info would be helpful.

I have eaten there several times. Like most WDW restaurants, somtimes its great, sometimes its ok. It is a great place to eat and watch the fireworks if you can get a window seat. Unfortunately, I have never tried what you inquired about but, I'd still recommend them.

Just watch out for the frozen drinks! Last time I was there, my frozen whatever wasn't very slushy. When I pointed it out, the waiter, because of the language barrier, thought I was complaining about the amount of rum, so brought me another with at least a double shot floating on top!!! :slurp:

Probably one of the only countries in Epcot whos restaraunt I can't stand is China. I've been there twice and both times I felt very rushed. They try to get you in and out as fast as possible. Then when the bill comes you pay $100 for a meal that you could've gotten at a take out chinese place. There's nothing wrong with the food but I don't think its worth the money. Alfredo's in Italy or the Benihana in Japan are much better. Just my opinion.

Well, my husband and I did the Taste of China about two years ago and we loved it. The food was served family style and you get to try a bunch of things -- they even offered us seconds on everything -- and in my opinion the food was better than your average chinese restaurant. We really enjoyed our meal and couldn't dream of eating dinner because there was so much. We had a nice window seat so we just relaxed, enjoyed tea and people watched while we munched away on all sorts of yummy things. We definitely thought that -- given the way Disney really does overcharge for food -- this was a pleasant and wonderful distraction.

And on a side note, we've been to Alfredo's twice and did not enjoy the meal either time we were there. The restaurant is actually part of a small chain. We felt the food looked and tasted mass-produced. On our second visit -- our second wedding anniversary (and we were married in the Italy Pavilion) -- we arrived early and asked for a quiet table. They put us next to the kitchen doors across from a family of 15 with 5 small children. When we asked the waiter if it was possible we might be moved, he actually laughed. Not quiet. Not romantic. Not my idea of good Disney service!

My family when there for lunch it was great and they did have good selection of food. The food is al brought to the table and if you want more of something they will bring it to you. I would recomend it but it would not be my first choice. I like going there for a change for were I usually eat.

I did this in November on my way home from Louisiana ( live in south florida and drove to louisiana for thanksgiving I am a chinese food junkie and Richard and I loved it we had the family buffet it comes to your table and they give you so much food and you can ask for anything you want more of we practically had the whole restaurant to ourselves ( we went about 2:00 ) and the red bean ice cream was so good that i have been trying to find it here but the chinese markets only have ice cream pops not regular ice cream We loved it so much we told my mom and sister about it and when we go in july on our last day we are doing that for our late lunch early dinner I say do it if you are a chinese food junkie like me

My family had the taste of China and it was great. We also had a couple of picky eaters, the sweet and sour chicken with out the sauce makes great chicken nuggets.

Thanks everyone for the info. I have eaten at the Chinese walk up place around the corner but never in the sit down restaurant. I will have to try it the next time I am there. The only thing is, since I live here in Orlando and pop out to Epcot for only a couple hours at a time, I am never hungry enough to take advantage of a buffet. Does it come with soup and any other desserts?

Thanks for all the info everybody. Looks like itwill be on our list of places to eat, and I think for lunch the price is pretty affordable since we try to have only 1 big meal a day to save money. I usually like to pick a buffet and then a counter service meal for the other meal of the day, either lunch or dinner. DH has been to China so I was thinking of him. He says they actually have the soup last and not as an appetizer. He likes everything hot and spicy so I am hoping they will bring him extra spice on the side etc.
