Nine Dragons or Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki?

We would like to go to one of these for dinner. We are on the dining plan, so cost doesn't matter. If you have had both, which is better? Or if you have any other comments about either, please advise!!

Most people tend to say that Nine Dragons isn't all that great, and I know that Teppanyaki has good food, but it's very overpriced (especially at Dinner). But since price doesn't matter, I'd choose Japan over China easily, even though I've never actually been to Nine Dragons.

Le Cellier and Alfredo's are the two best restaurants at Epcot, IMO though :)

I was thinking of a world Showcase place to go for dinner on a night my 5 yr old daughter will be staying at a kids club. We would like to catch Illuminations after. We are planning on going to Le Cellier the next night with daughter, unless it's not the most kid friendly?? We have 2 nights (possibly 3) that we are planning on spending at World Showcase, and I narrowed it down to Le Cellier, China, Japan, or Morocco. Which to pick?!

What do you recommend getting at Chef de France??

Believe it or not, my favorite dish there is the beef tenderloin and the potatoes gratin are great that it comes with, I just have them leave off the pepper sauce. Also the french onion soup is excellent as well as there green tossed salad, I've also had the escargot which is excellent too, not to mention the hot french rolls they serve at the table.

Le Cellier is fine for kids, we took my 5 yr old niece there and she was fine, you can color a placemat at any restaurant and kid will be okay, besides the pretzel bread is great there.

Personally, if I had one night without the little one, I would make that dinner at Canada. It's def. the most "romantic" of the WS places I've eaten at. There's really nothing over the top that really appeals to kids there - just a great place to eat. Perhaps you could take the little one to Japan, or Morocco that first night - kids love watching the chefs cook in Japan, or the Belly Dancer in Morocco.

Yes I think you are right! We'll have our night without DD at Le Cellier. Now I need to choose between Morocco or China for the night with her. She loves chinese food, but she would love to see the belly dancers too. I would worry about her at Japan because she is a non stop talker, and would probably irritate the other people we would sit with!!! Do you think there would be enough to eat if my husband and I shared a DP meal at China or Morroco? We are planning on snacking around the world that day, and I was thinking one of us would just order an appetizer and share with the others full DP meal. Any opinions on that??

Sounds like a plan!

As for sharing meals, it really depends on how much you eat. At Morocco, we had the set menu, with appetiser, entree and dessert ( I think they're called the King's Feast, I'd have to look it up to be sure) And that was plenty for us to share, if we had wanted to. Sharing would be kinda difficult at Japan - there just isn't enough food for that. China, it really depends on what you get. If you pad out your meal with lots of rice, you'll be fine.

We were very disappointed with Teppanyaki. Absolutely nothing special about it - if you have a Japanese restaurant at home, you will find a replica of it in Epcot, only unbelievably expensive.

Nine Dragons gets a visit from our family at least twice every trip. The kids love it - the kid chopsticks are great - and we love the iced green tea. The meals are great. We can't eat at the China Buffet down the street anymore. You get spoiled with Nine Dragons. The service is also excellent. I don't know why it has a bad rep, because we've never had a bad meal there.

Now the Chinese counter service is a different story - yuck!!!

Yeah, I was wondering why it didn't rate better than the reviews I read in some books? I think we'll give it a try! Thanks!!

Out of those two I would choose to not go to either of them. With choices like Le Cellier and Alfredos within a few hundred feet, there are much better choices.

I think the ratings in books come from looking at the value of a place - how good the food is in respect to how much you pay for it. The food itself was very good, I was pleasently surprised. But I was price-blind with the Dining Plan. If I had to pay out of pocket, I would be less likely to visit the Nine Dragons. It's good, but not worth $25 out of my own pocket. The DP changes how you look at these things.

I've only eaten at Nine Dragons and, to be honest, it doesn't compare favorably to the Chinese restaurants down the street. Or for that matter, the Chinese restaurants in China. The flavor when we visited there was bland - it felt like very dumbed-down Chinese food for the masses (which, in a way, it was).

It may be the same way at the Teppanyaki, but at least there your kids get the show.

My wife and I loved Teppanyaki. Good food and alot of fun. I like it better than Nine Dragons, though I like Nine Dragons too.

I've never been to Le Cellier, but from the sounds of it, I need to get over there sometime!

I loved Nine Dragons!!! It was the only place to eat with no wait when we were there in Jan. I was worried after reading bad reviews, but it was great! We would not eat at the Japanese restaurant there because we have a Benihana right near home that we love. But every time we are in Epcot, we have lunch in Biergarten....YUM!!!!!!:p

We've had both. Japan has a cute show but it's over quick and if you don't have 8 people you're sitting with strangers. It's also not alot of food.

We love Nine Dragons. Plenty of food, great options and we like the atmosphere. We love the sesame chicken and general gau's (tso's).

And our favorite hands down is Le Cellier!!
