The professional market for cameras is MUCH different than the 'pro-sumer' market, Fast lenses which don't have flare problems, durability and weather sealing, Optical viewfinder because the digital adds distortions. A professional camera is designed to put as little as possible between the photographer and the image they want to capture.

The mirrorless camera appeals to tech enthusiasts who enjoy the technology of the camera but they see it as an object to be admired in its own right, They don't see it as a tool to create images.

The mirrorless camera will probably replace the 'low-end' DSLR simply for the ease of video, For the 'high-end' cameras I don't see it.

A professional camera is designed to put as little between the photographer and image making... This statement has very little to no validity in the digital world.

It most certainly does, as the owner of one of those pictured you do not need to use ANY of them to operate the camera while shooting the only controls you need are on the command dial and sub dial. All the rest of the information is in the viewfinder.

All those buttons and knobs are used to set the camera up, You are not tweaking menus to operate camera on mine for instance I have shut the LCD off because I don't need or want it blinking when I'm shooting.

But again, the above statement makes no sense when relating a camera to its owners. Nikons are all built on this platform so a D4 shooter and D7000 shooter operate their manual controls the same way. So how do front and back command dials dictate a difference between professional and prosumer markets? I have to thank all the morons who drop 4 grand on digital cameras because it lets me buy a 200 dollar Mamiya that blows the pants off it.
