Well we had to switch our dates due to my wifes work schedule, we had planned to go to Disney World from Sept. 15-22 now we are going from Sept. 8-15. We were just wondering if the crowds pick up much during the Nights of Joy concerts? Any info you can give us is greatly appriciated:cool:

crowds are generally very busy for the event, and consisting primarily of rowdy teens...

ie- night of joy is an event in which the parents of local out of control teens dump them at, in hope that a "christian" event might do them good....

doesn't work that way

I'm glad you asked that Doc. We too will be there during that time. I was wondering the same. We will be staying at POR. My first time at Disney. Hope all of this won't mess up our good time. Do you know just where they hold this event? Have a great time.:sohappy:

Night of Joy itself is an after hours event in the Magic Kingdom, but they do bring crowds in. Also, as MKT said, the kids are particularly rowdy. One might think that since it's a christian event that the kids would be good christian kids. Generally not the case as these kids don't really have the best of behavior. Most of the groups are local and your trip should be okay.

I worked Night of Joy two years ago and the kids were not very well behaved. However, I also visited during Grad Nites and while some caused trouble, the trip itself was generally unaffected. The night of joy kids are high school kids, so from a guest's point of view, I'd imagine the day crowds are similar to those during grad nites.

Agreed. I couldn't believe the stuff I saw last year. I'm hoping that CMs will take some action at least against the people who are literally out of control.....there was so much trash thrown in Snow White's Scary Adventures and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, line jumpers in Space Mountain, boat hoppers in "it's a small world", TONS of bumping on the Indy Speedway, people standing up and jumping vehicles on the TTA, screaming and shouting in Alien Encounter, and a lot more. I'm just hoping for a better event this year.

But yeah, I attend a private school, so they take us there every year (though I've been pushing them to go to USF this year). The park in general is crowded (especially when the concerts happen, but I don't listen to the music, so I never see the concerts) during the event but lines are short. As for the crowds in the day.....not large at all. We arrived at around 3:30 last year, and directly walked onto Astro Orbiter, and waited 10 minutes for both Space Mountain and the Indy Speedway.

It's September anyways. It is never crowded that month. :D

Yeah, be careful. Just because these kids think God is on their side doesn't mean they'll be well-behaved. Some of the most dangerous men in history believed the same thing, and they weren't all hopped up on a Mickey Bar sugar high.

Likewise, I'd bet some ill-behaved kids are bused in by their parents in hopes that being around "good kids" in WDW will rub off on them. You also get people (kids AND adults) who are related to real believers, who couldn't care less about the faith but hey, a trip to Disney World is a trip to Disney World. And I know if *I* were a little cranky Goth-enheimer who lived in Orlando, I'd be tempted to go to WDW during this time just to say blasphemous things really loud and make the Christians have conniption fits. Imagine the amount of fun an unsupervised smart-mouthed Holden Caulfield-wannabe could have in THAT enviornment.

The only thing Joyfull about Night of Joy is not being there.

I don't know what I'd do surrounded by thousands of out of control "Christian" teens all night. Yes I'm in that teen age group (16) but I have too much sense to make a fool of myself in public, and ruin other people's vacations. From what I hear, in order to enjoy NOJ I'd need to be a delinquent... oh and a Christian :p
