Sweet! Thanks for the info OP! I would love to go this year but we have already made plans to visit The World again the last week of October. I would only care to see about half of the artists scheduled this year,I have seen a much stronger line up in years past. Hopefully my DW and I will be able to go next year. I have wanted to go to Night Of Joy for about 13 years now but have been unable to. I just posted a thread with questions about Night of Joy last week and got some great info. I definitely hope to go within the next few years. Thanks again!

JP, is the DRC selling tickets for NOJ this year?

Also, NOJ website has not been updated yet with ticket sales or listing of performers. Just an FYI for those of you that may have already checked and were confused.

Yes, tickets went on sale today at DRC. I believe we are the only source until Thursday when they go on sale at the Parks.

To be honest, I'm SHOCKED that flyleaf is going to be there. Is this going to be the first time that a band with a screamer is in the Kingdom? And I don't mean like, Audio Adrenaline screaming, I mean like Slipknot screaming.

oooo! We can't afford two WDW trips in one year, but I'll definitely have to plan my 2008 trip in September! I'd love to attend a Night of Joy event!

I agree...a bit weaker lineup than usual, we have been several years in a row, but might pass this year as most that I would like to see I have seen in the past. It will be interesting to see who Universal has at their event.

But then again as it gets closer to the time we will probably do a last minute weekend trip!

Yeah, I'm thinkin' we probably won't be seein' Underoath or Demon Hunter at Night Of Joy anytime soon...but hey, it's a start. Red are pretty heavy too so that's surprising. I thought for sure Skillet would be there after the stellar year they had last year(what an amazing album). I bet Universal gets em'!

I personally have been a huge fan and collector of Christian Music for almost 20 years now and I have favorites in almost every genre of Christian music from Southern Gospel(OLD Gold City with Brian Free and Ivan Parker, The Kingsmen) Pop/AC (Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman) Rap/Hip Hop(DC Talk!!!,TobyMac,GRITS,KJ-52) Rock(Newsboys!!!,Sanctus Real,Switchfoot,Relient K, Downhere) and Hard Rock/Metal(Skillet,Underoath,POD,Demon Hunter). But for me, probably my biggest musical passion is some of the old school Christian Metal from the 1980's. The Lord greatly used the music and ministry of bands Like Stryper, Bride, Barren Cross, Bloodgood, Whitecross, Messiah Prophet, Deliverance, Sacred Warrior and Tourniquet to bring about my salvation so I will always have a strong emotional attachment to those bands and that style of music. It would be so sweet if the Magic Kingdom hosted an old school Night Of Joy and asked some of the above mentioned bands to perform and asked Stryper to headline(heck, I would settle for just seeing Stryper at the Magic Kindom). I know it will never happen(and I have probably lost most of you by mentioning some of these archaic bands)but a guy can dream can't he? Isn't that what Disney is all about? I can totally see Walt headbanging to Tourniquet and then stage diving into a sea of Disney characters, maybe even starting a pit while he is at it. Ok, maybe I can't see that, but it sure is hilarious to imagine.

Oh,by the way, there are two albums that just came out recently that are amazing and I HIGHLY recommend them. They are...Five Score and Seven Years Ago by Relient K and Portable Sounds by TobyMac. Both are FANTASTIC!!!

Cool! I originally was not a big fan of Relient K,they had great hooks but the lyrics, while sometimes humorous, were horribly cheesy and cliche...having said that, I have really enjoyed watching Relient K grow as a band and especially enjoyed watching Matt grow as a songwriter. I have been very impressed by their last two albums and hope to see them live soon.

Casting Crowns, MercyMe, TobyMac, RelientK, Skillet, Grits, Jars of Clay, Hawk Nelson, Family Force 5, Jeremy Camp, The Afters, Pocket full of rocks are all at Universal this year.

Wanted to see MercyMe last year, but well I was kinda busy :) They sing 2 of my favorite songs, one I think of my dad and the other I played at my daughter's funeral.

Yeah, Universal's lineup is FAAAR superior to Disney's.

fizzle75,
I actually saw Stryper at the MK in the early days of NOJ around 1990. And yes, Stryper was the headliner act and were on the castle forecourt stage. To this day, it is in my top three all time favorite concerts (along with one by The Choir and a recent one by Mute Math.)

The year we get P.O.D., Newsboys, and Switchfoot in the same night is the year I go.
I still think it's great the Disney does this every year, but I can't justify a trip unless atleast two of the above bands are there.

I am soooo jealous!:( I have been a huuuge Stryper fan since In God We Trust came out in 1988 and I have always wanted to see them live, but, alas, I live in a small town and most christian shows I attend are at least an hour and a half away and Stryper played mostly arena gigs so they never came anywhere close to me. The closest I ever came was seeing Michael Sweet in Asheville , NC during his acoustic tour in support of his first solo album back in 1994, I sat right in front of him.

I love Mute Math too(anyone who doubts Christians can put out extremely creative and amazingly crafted music needs to check out thier albums),the two founding members were previously in a band called Earthsuit and they were amazing too. The Choir are hit or miss for me,there's no denying that Derri Daugherty and Steve Hindalong are amazing artists though.

Even in his days with Backstreet Boys Brian was very vocal about his faith in Christ. He released an amazing solo album last year in the christian market called Welcom Home, I highly reccomend you check it out. He has become a pretty big artist in christian music.

I also am a huge fan of both Newsboys and Switchfoot,IMHO Peter Furler and Jonathan Foreman are two of the most brilliant songwriters on the planet. I love P.O.D. as well but no where near as much as I do Newsboys.

We'll miss you Phil Joel!!!:(
