Completely stupid IMO, but most coaches and GMs are in favor of it. Not only does it bring in more money, but it allows teams to look better by making the playoffs, why wouldn't coaches favor it? It could potentially increase job security, and it gives them a better chance of making the Super Bowl. The fans are the ones who dislike the idea, but unfortunately we have no say. It's inevitable, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's in place for next season.Are my ears playing tricks on me, or am I hearing talk of the NFL possibly adding yet another playoff team in each league into the mix?
Why not just make football like the NBA, where pretty much ANY team around the .500 mark is guaranteed a playoff berth.
Postseason is no longer about "The best of the best". It has devolved into: "How many excited cities can we pump into this thing; reeling in more $$$$"
