Are my ears playing tricks on me, or am I hearing talk of the NFL possibly adding yet another playoff team in each league into the mix?

Why not just make football like the NBA, where pretty much ANY team around the .500 mark is guaranteed a playoff berth.

Postseason is no longer about "The best of the best". It has devolved into: "How many excited cities can we pump into this thing; reeling in more $$$$"

Completely stupid IMO, but most coaches and GMs are in favor of it. Not only does it bring in more money, but it allows teams to look better by making the playoffs, why wouldn't coaches favor it? It could potentially increase job security, and it gives them a better chance of making the Super Bowl. The fans are the ones who dislike the idea, but unfortunately we have no say. It's inevitable, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's in place for next season.

DeSean Jackson has been released by the Philadelphia Eagles.

People running the Eagles are pretty smart guy's. If their security people are saying he's involved with L.A area gangs you can bank on it ! Better to cut ties now than have a Aaron Hernandez situation. And I'm on board with what Chip Kelly is doing and wants to do. Desean's stats will be hard to fill, but Kellyseems like the type of coach who can turn a 7th round or undrafted player into a Pro Bowler.

Hubby and Son #2 are not happy!

See above statement. Jenn, are you from the Philly area ? I'm in Lansdowne. I understand if you prefer not to reveal any personal info.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

Not sure why Hubby and Son #2 are such big Eagles fans.

They'll be getting Maclin back, too, so I think he'll relieve some of what Jackson brought to the table. This year's WR class is supposed to be pretty deep, so you can probably draft a 1st round talent in the 2nd or even 3rd round.

The Raiders and DeSean Jackson reportedly have mutual interest.

The Raiders have been very active in free agency. I don't know the structure of all the contracts, but it would seem to me like they are getting themselves back into the salary cap hell that they just finished digging themselves out of. At this rate there will be another cut-and-gut in a couple years when cap hits start catching up to them.

The NFL doesn't look kindly on teams using bankruptcy to keep things moving forward :) Besides Trump loving the attention... even if it ever became real (which I doubt) I could see the owners rejecting him.

Sounds like April 1st talk to me :)
