So, it's been decided...we'll be heading back to the World in 2011. <sigh> Such a long time to wait! LOL

Once again, I'm calling on yinz guys for some help/advice. I'm sure it's been discussed hundreds of thousands of times before, but... When is the best time to visit when pulling your child out of school is not an option? We want to avoid crowds as much as possible. So what month is the slowest in the summer? What about spring/Easter break? Those of you that don't pull your kids out of school to visit...when do you go?

Thanks...

Im the same we are planning to go in 2011 (well i am) and i cannot wait i love everything about it it is my favorite place on earth, we will be taking my to be 3 year old son and 1 year old daughter (due next week) so we will not have to take him out of school so we do not have that problem but we will either go in feb 11 or nov 11 ive found these the quietist times to enjoy the fun.

I cannot wait we are gonna go for it this year with onsite accommodation, dinning plan and fly with virgin premium so the saving has already started.

Well it depends on your child's summer vacation, but I would think as early in June or as late in August as possible would be the best time. Pretty much avoiding July all together.

First off. Congrats on going again. 2011 will be here before you know it. The planning is half the battle. Since my little one is just about a year I have no advice on timing or anything but May wasn't to horrible if your school system allows.

Our next trip is also going to be in 2011. :sohappy: We are taking the kids out of school in October but if that's not an option for you it does depend on when your child's vacation starts (like lilclerk said).

My nephews and their mother went in late August last year and said other than it being "Africa hot" (Biloxi Blues reference), the crowds were pretty manageable. They said the FastPasses were really important though.

Other than that most people I know who have been during the peak times say the "vacation times" are crazy.

Good luck!!

Well from the information I've gathered it appears that the end of August is relatively quiet, I don't know how long the vacation is in the US but in the UK our school holidays run until the beginning of September, thats why I am going from the 21st to the 31st of August this year. Good luck whenever you choose to go! :)

Yah for you - it is so exciting when you have a date planned to visit WDW. We like to go First week school starts, NO LINES! My daughter is still in preschool. Last year we had to go the last week in August and it was still crowded but tolerable. I agree that you have to plan in your agenda to make use of the fast passes and definatley get your dining reservations in order -- it is pretty hot as well. I am not sure about spring. I think either the WDW website or Birmbaum's Disney Guide will give you weather and attendance records for the year. Good Luck and great fun in planning!

Wow, a parent that is considering education over entertainment. But Epcot is full of edutainment.
I would avoid July, go early June or late August... and be prepared for the heat.

When I read your question, I thought you MUST be from Pittsburgh! It love when a see the word "yinz"! :)

I agree with early June or late August. I went late August a few years back and it was great, but the hottest weather I've ever felt in my life. Consider going the first week school ends, or the week before it goes back.

I have been to WDW over Spring Break for the past 8 years due to a family timeshare, and I actually prefer the summer crowds. Last year when I was there it was bad with crowds (however it was close to Easter too). Avoid going anytime near Easter, or any major holiday.

Depending on when you child's school gets out, the first couple of weeks in June weren't bad for us last year. We essentially stayed June 1-15, and only at the very tail end of the trip did the crowds start to pick up with more and more schools in the North getting out for the summer.

Thanks, everyone, for the great advice.

It's not that I don't want to pull her out of school...the school district is rather strict about such things. In their policies guide it states that they can/will take legal action against the parent/guardian who takes their child out of school for a vacation. In fact, I got a stern warning from the principle this past year and DD is only in Kindergarten. Plus, if I do take her out during the school year, she'd have a ton of homework to do while on vacation. I really don't want to come back to our room after a day at the parks and have to help her do homework.

So...it looks like we will be shooting for as early in June as possible.

When my children were in grade school, we always chose one of the weeks during the year that had two teacher workdays scheduled, usually on Mondays and Tuesdays (Northern VA does that periodically thru the year) and so the kids only missed three days of school. We went every year to Disney.
