Next Gen happening to me before I leave on my trip

Wanted to know if anyone else going in March or are going to Disney soon are starting to get emails from Disney. The last time I went to Disney in 2009, I never received these types of emails. I am liking it though.

The first email I received talked about my arrival and gave me the resort information (phone number, map, directions). I thought it was pretty cool.

The second email wanted to know if I wanted to receive emails while on vacation that would include coupons and anything special that would be going on at the resort. I did not sign up for this since I will not have my laptop while on vacation.

The third email I received wanted to know if I wanted to receive text messages while on vacation which would give me wait times of popular attractions and anything that would be special going on at the resort or something like that. I signed up for this so I will let you all know how this goes.

I know they talked about Next Gen at the press conference the other day and I think they have started it.

We got all the emails and stuff before our trip last month. Just a warning though, we got a text message from Disney EVERY morning at 8am, so if you like to sleep in you might want to turn your phone off. Other than that it was all very helpful.

Thanks...what kind of information did they text you?

I would recommend NOT getting the text messages. I was getting 4 or 5 texts every day and it got really annoying. And they would call once a day to ask if I needed assistance with anything. Would be a nice service for a first timer probably but got old real fast for me.

If I remember right, the first text was just a basic text asking you to reply with what park you were going to that day. Then, if you responded it sent you another one telling you how to text to get wait times. I had the Lines app on my phone so I never really responded to the texts so I don't know how many you get after that.

Haven't received anything from WDW, and we are heading down in 12 days. But I am not too worried about it. We are coming down from Canada and although I am bringing my iPhone4 with me, I will not be using it for text messaging or calls or anything like that. It would cost too much. So I don't think I would want WDW to text or call me 4-5 times a day.

Now if I lived in the States and my plan allowed me to receive all this with no extra costs involved, bring it on! :sohappy:

My phone does not get apps since I don't have a phone which has Internet access so the text will come in handy for me.

Thanks!

Wow.. we leave Friday.. and to my knowledge we haven't gotten anything like this.. I wonder if this is only for non-DVC type vacationers???

I'm a non-DVC type vacationer who is leaving next Friday and like I said, I didn't receive anything.
