I wish they could tear it down but then there would be nowhere for the Osborne lights
The backlot streets are one of the few things left in the Studios that mark the heirtage of the park as an actual studio. I would hate to see them removed, so very glad to see them getting some work.
Any idea what they are doing? Just cleaning up the facades or are they possibly filling the void behind them with a shop or something?

Thats a good point but I have always felt that there is nothing to do there
That is true, it feels kind of empty.
Maybe if the opened The Muppet Movie Ride
Just a replacement of the facade- should be done by end of June.
I agree with a previous poster, that whole area of DHS is just empty, a ghost town most of the time. Absolutely nothing going on (except Osbourne a few months out of the year). Ofcourse, you can meet the Power Rangers, Yippeee! To me it is not nostalgic, but rather a constant reminder of a poorly updated and planned theme park. The whole area back there is just an enormous waste of prime real estate. That is a HUGE area, and they could do so much with it. Is there any other Disney park that has such a large area that amounts to nothing more than fake store fronts and apartment buidings? Imagine if somthing like that existed in the MK. I don't think it would have lasted this long. It should have been replaced years ago. It's good for a few photos, but that's it. Awfully big area wasted for photo ops. The Osbourne Lights can be moved, I say tear it down and build a couple of top notch E level rides.
agree with you 100 percent
I don't agree. The overall theme of DHS is the making of movies, the history of movies, and movies themselves.
That area is a representation of a movie set where scenes involving those buildings and streets can be filmed. It belongs.
It does however appear empty most of the time except in December for the lights. I don't know the answer but maybe it could be incorporated into the backlot tour or have a tour of its own, with good interesting commentary.
I don't really care for the phony facade panel part. I do like the actual buildings and streets.
