I've never been but I've heard that if you don't mind the crowds is a pretty good event.

As with WDW, get there early and don't leave till closing. I wouldn't bank on being able to book a room this late on either but I haven't checked.

I haven't been to DLP on New Years' Eve, though I did spend a New Years' Eve in front of the Eiffel Tower. I was expecting SOME type of hoopla... but nothing. So, if DLP has something going on, I'd suggest trying that. At least it's something!

I have not experienced a Disney New Year yet but that is set to change this year. Disney Resort Hotel and New Years Eve meal all booked up (ages ago!) so its all systems go! Can't see why it would be anything but brilliant!?

And for the first time both parks will open until 1am.
And of course 2 fireworks.

The TOT with the great view on the Disneyland Park by night, you just can't miss it !

Yes, for the first time, DLP will launch 2 fireworks in both parks with the same soundtrack.
I wonder which park I will choose this year...:xmas:

I'm finally going on New Years Eve!!

Each year the family always does our own thing with the kids usually staying at Grandads, but this year Grandad has paid for us to go to Disney!

I've only ever been when it's hot (especially in Orlando) but seeing as i'm used to the cold weather here in London I'm looking forward to seeing a Christmas Park.

Dad has NEVER had the Disney experience so what a time for him to make hi first visit. the magic lives :-)

We're looking forward to our first New Year at Disneyland Paris as well and like you it will be the first time experiencing Disney in the cold - used to Orlando tempretures in September!!

Can't wait to see what it looks like - all snowy and Christmasey!

Seasons Greetings and Happy New Year!!! :xmas:

Well we survived NYE!! I loved seeing the Christmas decorations, but to be honest as Christmas "was over" for me by that point it was a little weird lol.

The weather was bad in the morning, thick fog and then it lifted a little to reveal SNOW! Not the stuff falling in Main Street either, REAL snow!! Of course it didn't settle and decided to fall heavily while we were waiting to meet the Princesses but hey, it cleared up and even warmed up!

The ride times were relatively short too - we had fast passes for most attractions and qued for no more than five mins per ride. Dad even braved the teacups :king:

The major downside was, and I can't believe I am saying this, was actually the NYE countdown. Drunks littered the streets and wouldn't let people past (I have a stoller and someone even sat on my daughter) I became very upset and even cried. I got severely crushed by last minute revelers trying to get near Sleeping Beauty's Castle and the crowds wouldn't budge for me to exit, cleary very distressed. We missed most of the fireworks after finding a cast member to help us move, and I'm sorry to say that she lead us straight back into the thick of the drunken stupidity. I have never ever experienced this before and I am still in shock at what I saw. I thought DLP was a family park and all I saw was drunk antics, crowds of youngsters walking around with booze in their hands and a lot (i mean LOTS) of fighting, swearing (I speak french well) and the kind of behaviour you'd expect outside a nightclub.

My step mum was upset and I felt bad as I love Disney - and it was her first time. We're going again for my daughters birthday and I want her to experience what I do when I visit the House of Mouse!

BUT - we went on practically everything, missed the electric parade as we were stuck in Planet Hollywood, got some great pics of DD with the Princes (I've never met them before!!!) and scowled at the poor exchange rate.

We all had fun and will probably never go over NYe again, in Paris anyway. we're thinking of changing the Orlando 2010 holiday though to Dec ;-) :sohappy:

But oh heck, the Castle was absolutely breathtaking and I'd not have missed that for the world!!!

See you there, we changed out minds too and are now going to WDW over 2010 / 2011. Sorry to hear about your bad experience though, a lot of the French and people from other European countries were like that for us even in May 2008.

We have just returned from the New Year Celebrations at DLP. We had a lovely time, the fireworks were great but I have to agree with the above post, it did seem to be a bit unruly. Not sure if this would be the case in Disney World, Orlando? I think not!

The main comment I would make is that queue jumping doesn't seem to be such an issue in DLP as it is in Disney World. We queued for about an hour for Crushers Coaster and it happened 3 times that we saw from our place in the queue. Who do these people think they are, do they not understand the concept of waiting in line? When I tried to say something to one group of these rude people they 'appeared' not to understand what I was saying, however I think the look on my face should have said it all!!

Other wise we had a great time, despite the freezing cold! Saw both real snow and 'Disney snow'! managed to get on most of the rides although found the queues too long for some of the more popular rides but we are heading off to Disney World in September so will make up for it then!

Happy New Year!! :sohappy:
