New Year's at WDW!

So I'm particularly proud of my mad skills at credit card rewards manipulation! I got a Southwest Airlines Visa and a Starwoods Preferred Guest AmEx (both with sign on rewards) a few months ago and carefully met the required spending on both cards by doing my normal spending on the cards and paying the bills off each month.

With bonus points in hand I booked! I was able to get round-trip airfare for 2 and 7 nights at the Dolphin from 12/29/2012 - 1/5/2013 for a grand total of $712. Yes that $356 pp for air and hotel for a week over New Years (including all fees etc for the cards)!

So who else is planing on ringing the New years in at WDW?

Where is the best place to dine/party on NYE??

My son and I will be celebrating NYE in Epcot and eating in Germany. What better place to be...the happiest place on earth on one of the most exciting nights of the year. Have a great time.

Last year I did New Year's at the Studios and would do it all over again in a heartbeat!!!! It was AMAZING!!! I had dinner at the Brown Derby which was great and surpasssed my memories of it from a number of years back. I went over and watched Mulch, Sweat & Shears perform a few sets on the big stage by the Hat and in between the DJ kept the audence entertained. Here is a video from the Midnight set just as we hit New Years:
A few tips, get to where you want to be in terms of the park early, dont plan on leaving the park or you may not make it back in at all, and dont plan to hit a lot of attractions. If you are OK with all of that you will have a great time, I know I did!!!! Enjoy!! Marie

We will be there. Hoping to spend time at the studios. We have lunch reservations at Yak and Yeti. Will do AK that day and go to take a disco nap at the hotel and then head out to DHS for the evening and pick up a counter service. So, excited. With all our our trips, we have never been during the holiday season.:D

Hi Fun, I dont recommend being anywhere else or leaving any park on that day. Magic Kingdom was in phase three closure by 10:45am on New Year's Eve last year. If you leave a park for any reason, there is a better than even chance you wont get back in at all. I dont think the Studios were that bad but I wouldnt take the chance. Marie

If that happens we will just hang at DTD or at the hotel. I am too old not to take the Disco nap! LOL I have had to be awakened for many a new years for the ball drop. Just being down there will be fun.
