New WDW Ticket Structure Announced

People are so pesimistic and too eager to complain!!

I just wanted to thank CTX Rover for helping straighten out the confusion which were leading to assumptions. I was just about to write about the GREATLY reduced ticket prices for the hopper passes. I agree that $60 is a lot for a one day ticket, but I think Disney is being very smart by offering pretty reasonable hoppers. Disney is trying to promote longer stays in a more economical fashion. I think it will help attract the families that may not otherwise be able to afford Disney (like my family when I was young).

It seems that with all of the frustrations with the company lately, people are all too ready to start complaining about some of the decisions being made. Complaining is completely fine as long as it is fair and legitamite. I always try to learn the entire story without jumping to conclusions before I promote or demote an idea. Once all the information was laid out, it does not seem like a bad plan. Sorry, but I just get frustrated when I see people complaining and jumping to conclusions without knowing or trying to find out all the information. :brick:

Thank you CTXRover for delivering the rest of the information!!

one reason for adding that is the minimumwage went up... and will go up every year.... another is they want people to stay onresort longer or buy and AP Vs.... what i do and get a 5 day pass... and go 5 times that year or something like that....

I have a feeling I'd better get an AP renewal voucher ASAP
Then again... if, as they claim, they're rewarding people with lower and lower prices for buying more days, then an AP should be about five bucks. :hammer:

Yes, I like that train of thought. My wife and I were plannig on buying AP's for our trip next October, which will end up being about 13 days in the parks. Now we dont know and were really looking forward to any savings on room discounts....

5 dollars more for one day. . . UGH . . .

(Did it have to be so much so quickly? One dollar a year seemed enough. Inflation??)
Grizz, do you really buy one day tickets? For that matter, does anyone go in and buy one day passes? If so, why? Does anyone really care if a 3 or 4 day pass expires? Has anyone really looked at the per day costs for the 7 - 10 day passes? I ask these questions, not to be a jerk, but to get everyone thinking and not just reacting to the media stories.

This change is a good thing. Do a little math and research and you will soon figure out that the majority of guests at WDW will save money. I only wish they had started this earlier so I could use them on my trip in 4 days!

There are actually a lot of people who would purchase a one day ticket. These are the people who are in Central Florida for reasons other than a vacation. In most cases this is a person travelling in Central Florida on business who has a free day or afternoon and may never have been to WDW or hasn't been for a long time.

I'll grant you there are day travellers. But many of them are convention attendees and they get specially priced convention tickets, right? Also, what is the percentage of these travellers? 1 - 2% max? I don't think I would categorize them as "a lot" since many are probably there sans family.

Has there been any offical announcement of price changes for APs for Florida Residents?

I couldn't find anything on Disney's web site, but the Orlando Sentinel article said that the Annual Pass prices are not changing.

Anyone have any detailed information on the Dining Package add-on. Looking now but haven't had any luck on Disney.com. Mousesavers.com has some info, but I have more specific questions.

As to 1 day ticket complaints I understand what everybody says, but from my perspective this is a wonderful thing. My family of 4 can't make it to WDW on a whim. It takes years of planning and savings, which is why I haven't been for 2 years. Now it will be much more economical and when we go, we're there for 4-7 days and will benefit greatly. While it may be an inconvenience for those going 1 day only it seems to me families like my own with extended stays who pour in all kinds of tourist money into Disney are the ones that the Company needs to keep things going. Sounds to be a good thing to me, not only from my selfish perspective, but overall for Disney.

Thanks for that Dining Experience info, but that's not what I'm talking about. With the Magic Your Own Way Tickets there's a new Dining Option that you can add on for $35.00 per day per adult and $10.00 per day per child. I'm looking for the details about how it will work. Allegedly you get one Table Service meal, one Quick counter service meal and one snack per day and all dining locations are broken into 4 categories. The question is how can these options be combined. It's potentially complicated, but could be a big savings.

This is not about saving guests money, it is about crushing their competition. If they get guests never to leave the resort, it reduces the numbers of the other parks. 15% in a year can not be adequately explained by new contract expenses, they were not that generous to their employees.

I hope Universal and Busch don't up prices as well.

Mickeys Greedy face is showing its ugly head more and more lately. I was going to go to disney for one day and spend the rest of the week of my vacation on the coast. Now i wont even bother visting the Greediest Place on Earth.

That's an option I hadn't seen on any of the stuff that I read. Where did you come across that option?

I assume I can post a link to another site here, if not I apologize:

http://www.mousesavers.com/mywplusdining.html

This is the info I've seen so far on the Dining Option for the Magic Your Way tickets.

There's list of the dining locations with the categories as well.

The question comes down to number crunching and figuring out if it's more economical to add it on, but that depends on the specifics of the program. Hope that helps. I'm still looking for more info, if I find it I'll post.

I believe that is for the vacation packages and not for the tickets.

That's kind of my thought. It sounds like a rebranding of the Dining Option that you've been able to add to a hotel package for the last few years.
