Neat stuff!

Here's a free idea to DCL for their theme'ing...

Make the kiddy pools self cleaning or QUICK MT / QUICK FILL so when lazy parents don't give their kid’s regular bathroom/potty breaks and they "do-do" in the pool(s) the area is not closed for a long time and inconveniences other guests. Thus far over 1/2 of our cruises have had the Mickey Pool closed for a bio-hazard. Love when they put the black cargo net over the pool and it's empty with CLOSED sinage posted around it. It's not closed because its got a hole in it and it seeped out overnight...

I quote, from our most recent May2013 DREAM Voyage, during the day at sea noon time announcements from the captain...

"We are sorry for the closure of the Mickey Pool Yesterday...we are doing everything we can to get the pool reopened safely. Apparently one of our junior cruisers had a little problem with the hotdogs and ice cream... Parents please do remember to give your children regular bathroom breaks...THANK YOU."

We don't use those pools...Quiet Cove area is our place. BUT I did see a sign on the DREAM during this same cruise that said "no diapers allowed in the pool" in the adult pool too. So are senior citizents have an issue with their DEPENDS leaking??? ;)

I am so confused on how the pools even work. I am pretty sure Disney uses fresh water pools so they must take the water from the showering water and drinking water right? So they use the ocean but filter it?

Unlike some other cruise lines, DCL does use fresh water in their pools. We did see on one of tour videos available on the TV's in the staterooms that they produce their own fresh water onboard.

That itself is very very neat!

And it's delicious. The water is great quality!

The problem with the pool closures for disinfection is parents not encouring their children to go to the restroom often enough as well as parents who don't understand that even swim diapers are NOT allowed in the pools. Swim diapers hold whatever solid contents inside them....sorta like a tea bag holds bits of tea. They do not stop the steeping of the contents into the water. NO SWIM DIAPERS.

I took a pic of a very hazy Mickey pool on the Fantasy just last week. Seriously. You couldn't PAY me to get into those family pools more than half an hour after they open in the morning. No stinkin' way. Every time I look at them during the day I cringe. I wouldn't have let my boys in them either when they were little. Noooooo way. I was way worse of a germophobe then than I am now. First time we took our boys to a beach when they were like 4 & 5 years old you should've seen the horror on their faces when they realized they had sand on them and it was all around them. LOLOLOL!!!!

How long the pool is closed depends on the filtering capacity of the pool's pumbling system. How quickly it can turn the water over and go through enough cycles.
