New ultimate-spectacular-super-great fireworks-and-effects show at DHS.

wow-cool idea!!!!! It would help tie in to the theme of the park since Fantasmic (which I love) does not really tie back to the theme of movie magic (in my opinion). Fantasmic is an awesome show but it does not scream Hollywood Studios to me, per say. Would love to see a new show get added to the park.

The argument against it would be guest flow and operational issues. A hub based firework show is a crowd control nightmare, as shown during Frozen Summer Fun and Star Ward Weekends. It creates absolute havoc. Then throw in the fact that it closes off the back of the park due to firework fall out.

Why is an operational nightmare compared to Wishes? Isn't the basic layout for the parks the same? And DHS generally has fewer guests than MK.

They do. The set up is similar to the MK.

Highs off the remote site next to Cat Canyon. Lows off the rooftops.

Both drop debris inside of the park, hence the fallout zone.

The park wasn't built for a fireworks show.

But, as said, with all the potential future construction in the back half of the park, can't they design it in such a way as to minimize attractions being shut down due to fallout?

How do they manage in DL given the size of the park footprint and densely packed buildings?

I'm not saying that nothing would need to be shut down, but there's got to be a reasonable way to have regular pyro if there was a will.

That said, while I'd prefer pyro, I'd be fine if they simply returned to having a daytime parade

Apart from putting people in tunnels, not really.

The attractions can run and run if they're under cover. It's getting guests to and from them that's the problem. Anywhere within x ft of a certain launcher cannot have the public wandering around.

Disneyland manages like the Mk. Castle exclusion zone for the rooftops and remote launchers (of varying size) backstage. Toontown and a lot of Fantasyland closed during Remember for example.

Hopefully they'll turn to newer technology and dispense with pyrotechnics.

I hope they incorporate new tech with the existing pyrotechnics.. not replace it. They already invented a pneumatic launching system rather than having them be multi stage rockets.

Maybe this will be part of what they will be using those drone licenses they applied for last year..

I think the newer technology will have to replace old school pyrotechnics. It's just a matter of time before we see realistic 3D images in the air and under the water via various methods of plasma excitation. At this stage the real question is will we be seeing a giant 3D Kong in the sky menacing guests at Universal or will we see the spirit of Obi-Wan in the sky giving us instructions about invoking The Force.

And yes the drone screens, floating pixels and flying marionettes all sound very intriguing. It's an exciting time.

I'm not saying ignore new tech (by all means, keep trying to find something better), but keep the old fashioned explosives. There is something to be said for real fireworks that can't be matched with digital. It is the same reason that vinyl albums are making a comeback, on a goo player, the sound is better than an ipod.

Use the projectors (et al..), but enhance it with fireworks.

It would be great to keep the pyrotechnics but they pose too many environmental problems including air, water and noise pollution. Disney will of necessity gradually phase out the nightly fireworks in favor of other entertainment. There is no doubt that fireworks currently have a big bang for the buck in entertainment value. For that reason alone, Disney will continue with fireworks as long as possible. But the environmental problems will never go away. You can only make fireworks "green" to a limited degree.

It's a tough road for Disney to take because fireworks are as much a part of their brand as is Mickey Mouse. But as a good corporate citizen I think Disney will clean up their act.

I always say they should install fountains in front of the Chinese Thearter and have projections on the building and in the fountains. A small version of World of Color.

Why cant they just upgrade F! and other attractions? Then you don't need a firework show.

Each park should have more than one large scale entertainment offering IMHO. I'd prefer one day and one night (say a parade during the day and a pyro show at night), but having two at night is fine as well. With DAK and DHS losing their parades recently (and Epcot losing theirs some time ago), we are down quite a bit from where it should be. That's yet another reason why guests flock to MK.

The only parks that I think should have a parades are MK and DHS. They are the only parks set up to handle most of the crowds for the parade.

Well, again, I'm not saying each park needs to have a parade per se -- though I would argue that Epcot was fine with Tapestry of Nations before Disney started cluttering up the walkways -- but each park should IMHO have more than 1 big show.

I've suggested, for example, for DAK to have a daytime "parade" on the water where RoL will be. This would enable them to use the seating they are building for RoL more and give people a reason to be in the park both during the day and night. TDS has a daytime water show (Mythica).

California Adventure has a daytime water show with Goofy being the mistro. It is Instant Concert Just Add Water. I stopped and watched it a few times when we were there.
