New Tip Board for the Magic Kingdom? - now confirmed to be merchandise

I'm going with it being a new tipboard...

That was why I cunningly put a question mark in the title LOL. I'm not sure either. It just seems strange to be laid out in a very tip board way, and I do always feel the current tip board is a bit cramped. But you are right, the depth is strange, and it has roller shuttters, which suggest something behind there. So the jury is out on this one till it opens up. Either way, it looks nice LOL

Judging by the layout from the pictures, especially the closer up one, a merchandise location is not feasible in such a small little corner. I was thinking they could move the hat cart, or any other merch cart in that corner but its just too small; there is a pathway just off to the right there.

Explaining the depth though, I think it might be an electronic tip board. Not led screens like Epcot's, those just wouldn't fit. I've always envisioned a tip board that was like a board at a train station, with all the trains and departure times. The black and white little digits that flip and change. Like most of the individual attraction wait signs, but on a much larger scale. (Attractions like in pirates, jungle cruise, BTMRR, Splash, Haunted Mansion, Smallworld,Peterpan, Philhar, Pooh...all have these types.

The roll down shutters could explain protection from storms, or if the are tech. difficulties and all the information is incorrect. Just a thought...

That'd be sweet! Like the old train station signs. .

It's good clutter. It is very much in keeping with a temporary festival you might find anywhere. They do a great job. If they were permanent however, that would be bad.

About the LEDS, it will be interesting to see if they tie into the fountain show. And if they will be on all the time also.
Right...It's good for a temporary thing.

Like the Wand, Hat, Tarps, Cake...:lookaroun:lol:

If those LEDS were to interact in the show, and project light OUT...Wow. Another fantastic kinetic.

And that,is a great thing! I am so stoked! They have benn little things, but they DO matter.
Exactly. It all adds up.

Ah, so this is the mystery object! :D

It would make more sense in a way if it was a tip board, since it could provide more accurate & automatic info about wait times.

But a merchandising station? Interesting on the depth of those sections....

I have to agree with a previous poster who said it makes sense to be a wait time board - as it's on the right side of the entrance. I have always hated trying to walk across a ton of people coming out of the park when I am coming in late and looking for wait times. I sure hope that is what it is.

Yay! Another merchandise booth! :sohappy:

Indeed, during my last rip I noticed a severe lack of places for me to buy the same cheap and tacky sweatshop merchandise.

I'll immediately book my ticket! I've just got to see this new placemaking magic! Disney resembles Wal-Mart so much better like this! :sohappy:

They cant fit all that stuff into the 15 stores in the park? That just looks so tacky there.

Who is making all these poor decisions? Soon we will have Marketland or Pinland. This continues to happen because the higher ups see WDW as more of a walmart and Disneyland as Barney's. I am starting to think all the Disney purest are moving to the Westcoast.

Ugh... I am going to go vomit now.

It just doesn't make sense to me why they would put a merchandise stand there. Not only does it take away from the great theming of Maine Street, but why is it necesary? They have so many stores in the park already and stores all along main street in the emporium, etc. I just don't see the need. It will look very tacky and I just think it takes away so much from the main street theme.
