A California based company has proposed a new theme park about 45 minutes north of Atlanta, but in the outer edge of the suburbs. It will be a 713 acre park with two hotels and music venue.

"Avatron describes its planned development as a "Totally immersive, technology-driven theme park drawing on the expertise of Hollywood's leading visual effects professionals."'

Here is a description from the company:
""Unlock your imagination as you enter the doors of Avatron Park, your destination to a new world where entertainment meets fantasy and perception becomes reality. Patrons, young and old, create their own 3D avatar and embark on a voyage through the corridors of a virtual realm. Each step forward, guest are more and more entranced by an immersive and interactive experience created with 3D videos, motion capture, 4D sensory technologies, holograms, and augmented reality. Interacting with RFID wristbands and Kinect sensors, the digital theme park transforms reality into an intriguing quest of characters, folklore, legends, and customs."

That's no threat to WDW at all.

We need time for things to happen.
I think they are purchasing licensing rights to use the likeness of Walt Disney in their park promos.
If the Disney corporation is smart they'll officially license out Walt's image as there is no way they'll be able to sustain a theme park on the east coast.

With the cutting edge technology this park is promising how long will it be before we see Holo-Walt and Tupac fist bumping?

I live in the county they have proposed to build this in, small world huh? (pun intended ;)) I probably won't go to this if it is indeed built. They are already building a coaster here like the skyscraper that's going on I-drive.

Seems like a lot of potential vapor-parks have been announced lately. Bartow County really is not all that convenient of a location and the park reads like a knock off.
Right now bartow county isn't the most convent, but most of the land in Cobb County (just north of ATL) is full it seems. The place they want to build it has been virtually the same for 20 years. Now they have built baseball fields, but other than that there's not a draw to be honest.

In all likelihood this development is looking to tap into the visitors to the Bobby (former Atlanta Braves manager) baseball complex in Bartow. But as competition for WDW (or even Six Flags); not really....
