New Test Track Ride-through Video

I agree. It looks amazing with all the new screens and effects but it has lost the 'substance' of the ride for example you no longer go over bumpy things on the first ramp, brake test only happens one and the hot/cold test was not there, I don't think. Plus the outside part looks really dirty and outdated in comparison to the inside. They could have put some neon lights or neon paint on the tracks.

But I am still impressed by it, would be perfect if they added the above back in though.

With everyone complaining that futureworld was not future enought, I think Test Track 2.0 is fit to them. The idea behind it is that you are in a car of the future, being tested the way they will be in the future. It is obvious that they tried to harp on some of the light themeing from Tron, just to add appeal, but we have to remember, they never said they were gonna change the ride.

I look forward to riding it in April, and especially the interactive part. It is definately more futuristic, which is what so many people on these boards had been complaining about for forever.

Definitely. Now lets hope all of Futureworld gets a new makeover.

What new madness is this? Why can't Disney learn that if it ain't broke don't fix it? They messed up the original Imagination pretty well, now they are hell bent on doing the same to Test Track. According to an earlier poster on here I must lack imagination but design my own car? No thanks. It all looks tedious. Just let me get on the ride. That's all I want, not spend time 'designing' a car. I go to Test track for the ride experience not to 'learn' how 'my' car might behave in certain 'conditions'. I can see no point in that.
OK, rant over.

I gotta disagree with the OP here. I thought the changes looked entertaining, and it seemed for more engaging just going through the whole process than the original.

However, everyone is entitled to their own thoughts on this.

I do get to ride it at the end of the month, so I can truly get a first hand feel

I just watched the entire 20+ minute ridethrough video posted here of the new Test Track experience and....is it just me.....or does it strike you as quite lame, with not much offered but a change in bright lights and what-not? I found the whole experience quite underwhelming and disappointing.
Ok guys. I know not everyone will like it. Can't please everyone after all. But could we all ride it before condemning it?
Just rode on a soft opening - amazing!
Kind of tronISH
Nice and needed update
The after ride rooms are also fun and add to the
Rider experience

I agree. From the video the que and the design your car are a neat idea but the ride seems to lack the fun of the original. The lighting package of the indoor section is amazing. Taking out the more physical aspect is kinda a let down. It seems empty inside.

The more I watch the video and think of the change in concept, which appears you can't simply just walk through and get on line and ride the ride, but HAVE to go through and make a concept car before you can do anything else.....the more I don't like it. But the single-rider aspect of the new Test Track hasn't really been explained. For a single rider, can they simply move along to the loading area and ride it, or do they have to go through and make themselves a concept car first?

Single riders still go through the design process, but it is shortened. And it seems that you could skip the design process if you really wanted to! It's not required and right after you finish designing your car they tell you to get in line....

The ride actually exceeded my expectations... I was very excited to ride it, but prepared for the worst! You can't tell from the video that the ride is MUCH smoother and faster. The last curve actually had G forces O.o
It's definitely cool, but lacks a lot of what the first version had. I haven't seen any videos of it, but when I went on there was no narration, so does anyone know if there is any on the ride?

The more I watch the less I like it.

But then again, I'm an actual nuts-and-bolts kind of car guy. I'd prefer to be under my car changing the oil than playing around with touchscreen video games. That's why the original Test Track was always one of my favorites. I liked the dirty garage/lab of the original queue, with the smells of rubber tires and open toolboxes everywhere. I liked seeing test dummies smashed into oblivion and slow-mo crash tests showing people exactly what their cars go through before they hit the open road.

There are some things I liked about it. I like how they did a bit of forced perspective to show the EPCOT city miniature as you drive past on a cliff/ledge. I liked the video screens simulating rain and weather.

But why did the EPCOT model start flashing colors? And why did the truck flash too?

Perhaps the effect would have been more...effective... if they were simulating the design process, by having the car pass through the computer simulation, and then transfer into a real-world area. Start off with all of the computer modeling at the beginning....and then slowly transition to a real environment. Like have the neon trees slowly change into actual trees when you drive past them, and the big rig change to a dump truck as you enter a nighttime city. And then you race along the city streets until the door opens and you are on a real highway.

You know...tell a story with it!

The truck, the city, and everything on the inside of the building represent you being inside the "Sim Track", a facility that creates and generates the road and obstacles around it as you move through it. Although they are trying to avoid comparisons to TRON... think TRON's grid.

There's honestly the same amount as story as before.
TT1.0 - "Ride through a present-day GM vehicle testing facility."
TT2.0 - "Ride through a simulation facility for testing vehicle designs in the future."

Although they are trying to avoid comparisons to TRON...

Define "try".

Test Track 2.0 avoided TRON the way Pirates of the Caribbean avoided Spanish Colonial architecture.
