New Test Track Ride-through Video

I love the look of the outside, queue, and cars, but the ride did leave me underwhelmed. I'm sure it's not nearly as good without being there for the build-up and not being there to actually ride it. I'll judge it officially when I ride it. Good fit into Future World, however.

Looks very cool to me. The futuristic look fits Epcot. The design segment just replaces the pre-show so no loss there. Something to do while you wait. Now if they can just build one of those cool model cities in the descent in SSE!

The more I watch the video and think of the change in concept, which appears you can't simply just walk through and get on line and ride the ride, but HAVE to go through and make a concept car before you can do anything else.....the more I don't like it. But the single-rider aspect of the new Test Track hasn't really been explained. For a single rider, can they simply move along to the loading area and ride it, or do they have to go through and make themselves a concept car first?
I'm with you, seemed like they could have done alot more. Seems like your being stalled way to much. and the tests didn't make any sense to either me or my DW. We perfer the orignal to this. I'm sure It'll be nice to see in person, but we thought this refurb was weak.

What new madness is this? Why can't Disney learn that if it ain't broke don't fix it? They messed up the original Imagination pretty well, now they are hell bent on doing the same to Test Track. According to an earlier poster on here I must lack imagination but design my own car? No thanks. It all looks tedious. Just let me get on the ride. That's all I want, not spend time 'designing' a car. I go to Test track for the ride experience not to 'learn' how 'my' car might behave in certain 'conditions'. I can see no point in that.
OK, rant over.

Go to Cedar Point or Six Flags, they have all the 'ride experiences' you can handle without any of the education. Future world was about emerging technologies, testing and education. I for one am glad they stopped dumbing down the attractions for the guests with ADD.

OnStar was in the original Test Track too. At the very end: "OnStar vehicle diagnostics complete"

I didn't remember that, but I pulled up the original ride video and you're right.

At least then it was just a background voice actor and not the OnStar logo showing on a video screen.

This is the part I don't like. Honestly, all that jazz is cool if you want to do it, but for this ride, it doesn't seem like it's going to change a thing. And it's something that will lose it's luster after 2 or 3 rides. Just like the ending to Spaceship Earth.

I agree completely. The new changes aren't something that will have lasting value. It'll be an interesting novelty for a little while, and then become an annoyance.

I wish they would add some physical aspect to the extreme weather simulation. Spray water, have a tunnel of fog, shoot Nerf balls at you something.

No more rough road test. Now it is as smooth as silk. I'm sure that will get more wear out of the tires. It's still the same ride just a different perception. It looks like to much dead space. Two of the three chambers are not really used.

The ride is much darker and I do like that. The preshow does have an Epcot feel and I love that feeling. Like to see a video of the outside portion at night.

Perhaps I'll win the next Powerball and use the winnings to build my own park.

Then I'll build my own test track. With two lanes so the cars can race each other. And instead of a boring single loop, mine will have a figure-8 and part of the track will go through a wooded area. And mine will go 80 mph.

And the queue will be filled with power tools, Craftsman chests, old rubber, vintage pinup calendars, crash test dummies. It will be an ode to the automobile.

And I'd get a sponsorship with FORD, and the queue will have their classics....the '46 Super Deluxe, '58 Thunderbird, '67 Mustang, etc.

Videos playing crash test compilations set to whimsical classical music.

Forget "Sim Track" and riding into a video game....I want everyone to remember the Transportation Pavilion's original theme....that it's just plain fun to be free!

For all those who are complaining about having to design your own car... is it even a mandatory part of the ride? Why can't you just think of the design-your-own-car room as just another part of the queue? I mean the whole designing process takes up what, no more than 5 minutes of your time while you're waiting to ride? Seems kind of silly that people think this part ruins the entire ride when it's not even PART of the ride, it's just part of the queue. People think it would become tedious after the first 2 or 3 times... but then, couldn't you say the same thing about the pre-show of any other attraction at WDW? ToT, RnRC, Dinosaur... they all have the same pre-show every time yet everyone still enjoys those attractions.

I don't see what the big deal is... if you don't like designing your own car, then don't do it and just wait patiently like you would in any other line on any other attraction.

I for one love the look of the new TT, love the futuristic look and definitely think it fits in better with the Future World theme than the original attraction did (although I loved that too)

Because it's just another part of the pre-show, and it will get boring after a couple of times. I think you'd be hard pressed to find many people who would not just prefer to skip the pre-shows of any rides.

I'll save complete judgement until I ride it, but quite honestly, it looks to me like the heart of the ride has been ripped right out. Before, it had a storyline that flowed nicely and was easy to follow for kids. This just seems like a bunch of random cool Tron-looking special effects, but no real soul.

Yes-
Single riders just walk through and ride. No id card, no configuration, just ride.
