I understand not wanting your other kids to go without. It's gotta be tough. I just see the struggle many have with an infant and I don't understand. Look, if I had one, I'd probably be like "we're GOING! I WANT TO GO" lol, but it's not always the best idea. JMO. I'm not trying to offend anyone, I'm really not :) Just an opinion that for everyone's happiness ... I'd wait. But that's me :) Again though I get the other kids would have to go without, so not entirely fair I suppose. And also, I know it's absolutely beautiful to see the park through a kids eyes. I get it. But are you doing it for the baby, or for you? Just wondering :)

I've just seen such a misuse of strollers. Look, I get it. I'd love a spot for my stuff if I had kids ... lol. Because of the few who take advantage and abuse the stroller, now others are going to have to measure their stroller .... no one who goes to WDW can have nice things ;) lol

For what it's worth, I don't think they should, nor will the ever, ban strollers. But it's out of control.

It is hard to get it until you have kids. Met my SD when she was 6, so already Disney age. Last time we went she was 8. Now I have a baby girl who will be 1.5 when we go in August. We just want a family vaca with SD (now 15!) and her sister before we consider another baby and before SD graduates high school. So the trip is about our family, not about the baby. We’ll use a covered umbrella stroller that can recline and DH and I will each carry a backpack. Gram will be with us, so we essentially have a 4:1 adult to baby ratio, which is more help than I get on a day to day basis. If you have spread out families, bringing along babies or toddlers can be necessary. I think the best thing Disney could do is offer complimentary small umbrella strollers for guests 3 and under or those with disabilities and just not allow outside strollers. God forbid the they don’t monetize strollers, but admission is already crazy.

The biggest issues with the pull-behinds is safety more than size - folks can't see what they're rolling over or hitting.

On a vaguely-related subject, most every time I'm walking down Main Street, i get stuck behind a stroller whose wheels have gotten wedged in the tracks on the street. I always picture a train coming while the parent struggles to free their child...

I'm always afraid I'm going to twist my ankle on those tracks!

Two adults, one senior, one teen and an infant; multiple backpacks and a stroller. To me this just sounds like the whole group takes too much space.

I see similar families, walking 3 or 4 abreast down the walkway in front of pan/small world and I wince at how problematic it can be in today's WDW. We are all trying to manage navigating our day as best as we can. I just find it difficult running into and being stuck behind large groups of people.

Stroller parks are outrageous. There are simply too many of them. The park by the carousel is one of the worst. Think about how much space would open up without the strollers. Disney needs to restrict it.

Can they also limit the scooter size? Those Abrams tank scooters are obnoxiously large not counting the driver's own body leaning over the sides. I've seen many ankles taken out by those things followed by the high pitched beep beep of the horn.

At least it's a step in the right direction but I don't see the need to have anything larger than an umbrella stroller. That's what I was in when I was a kid and had no issues. The double wide strollers need to go for several reasons. One being the obvious ridiculous size and another being having siblings next to each other all day to fight, argue, cry and scream at each other. My parents each pushed a kid in a small stroller so when the dole whips hit the fan they could just walk a few feet apart and stop the fighting, problem solved.

Problem is, families with toddlers also can be families with older kids. There's a ten year gap between my brother and me.

You may be on to something, though. My first Disney visit was to Disneyland when I was two. We have a picture of me in a stroller in front of the firehouse. I actually have a vague memory of that moment, looking up at a CM in an old-fashioned fire hat.

Unfortunately, after that stroller visit, I turned to a life of Disney crime:
  • I attend festivals at Epcot and drink a glass of wine.
  • I look forward to upcharge parties and have spent ridiculous amounts of money on fireworks viewing
  • I became a DVC member
  • I find the Frozen ride in Epcot to be a pleasant experience.
  • I appreciate being able to get a FP for an evening ride on FoP so I don't have to get to the park at rope drop or wait in a 17 hour line
  • I'm very curious about Guardians of the Galaxy
  • I used a scooter from an off-site company one Christmas Week visit after wrecking my knee from slipping on the ice right before our trip.
It's possible none of that would have happened if my parents had waited until I could walk!

But let me be clear, I'm extremely disappointed in JIYWF and I have never, NEVER, NEVER used the dining plan.

So, we stroller-starters can't be all bad. :)

Dirk

Exactly this. There's a 17 year difference between our oldest and our youngest.

I think if Kingoglow had his way he would restrict group sizes. Yeah...definitely something Disney will be doing soon. Right after they restrict families from being able to bring toddlers. funniest thing I have heard all day.

Do the family reunion/cheerleading/football/tour groups give you migraines? But really, how do you even enjoy Disney if a group of five whole people makes you wince?

Have the Adventure of a Lifetime at Walt Disney World's latest attraction, A Child in Distress, a Brand New, More Disney Experience. Ticket prices start at $195 per child. Does not include Gate Admission.

Stupid groups of 3 or 4 people.

DISNEY IS FOR COUPLES!!!

Wellll... Father of four here :). However, they are all now in their late '20s-'30s....

There IS a way to satisfy the problem. But a lot of folks would not like it....

"No OUTSIDE strollers". ie, no problem with a stroller, as long as you rent one from WDW....
(waits for mob with torches...).....

Bear with me a moment... while less than perfect? This would allow WDW to regulate strollers as STROLLERS - not food trucks :). Standard sizes, capacities, dimensions.

For once? They could do this at cost - with an eye to optimizing "parking" and traffic flow. And no more "someone stole my stroller".

I don't know if this is a good/rotten/somewhere in the middle idea. When my children were young? We took one umbrella stroller (for the youngest). For us? It was far more "will our youngest child even REMEMBER this trip?". So, we waited - not because of a stroller consideration.... for an experience situation :).
