New Star Tours Sequence

Correct me if I'm wrong, but while there might be 50 possible COMBINATIONS of sequences, there is only one set of three different destinations that the vehicle can go to on the first warp and a separate set of three different destinations that it can go to on the second warp. If they added (as opposed to replaced) a destination on either the first or the second warp groupings, your chance of hitting it would be 1:4 (25% of the time) and if they added a new destination to both of the groupings, your chance of hitting at least one of the new destinations would be even greater.

This is correct. To be more specific, there are 54 possible combinations:
2 at the opening sequence
3 for the first planet
3 for the hologram message
3 for the second planet

If they add a new "world" for the first or second planet and keep the old ones, your chances of getting that one would be 25% since there would be 4 possibilities in that sequence.

I pointedly asked the question to Tom Fitzgerald a few years ago at the D23 Expo and his response was, "the ride was designed in a way that it's possible". I wouldn't expect to see a new destination option until after the movie comes out.

Just like Star Tours 1, Body Wars, and Mission Space, and those seasonal variations that were going to done at Toy Story Mania :)

I don't believe it...it seems more easier said than done...but I hope I am wrong.

That seems like a big change to make without some big PR to try and increase attendance/money.

I would not be surprised of some sort of advertising in the que or something...

Do we really think they would add a new scene before the movie even opens? Rebels maybe, but Force Awakens I can't see that. Announcement that is more likely.

Really doubt its April 17th. More likely Winter 2015

and I was hoping they would do a more substantial change to Star Tours when they do it. Change the time period to the Sequel Trilogy era, Change pilot (ideally back to Captain Rex), all new ride films based off new movies and spinoffs

Exactly. How many changes has there been at Toy Story - just the one?
There is no reason to do the overlays, (my guess is they have holiday ones made) the wait time is always long, the attraction doesn't need any reason for more riders. Maybe when the new track is added, or DHS doubles their attractions

Exactly.

Toy Story did have a scene change, but I'm still waiting for my overnight holiday overlay there.

How many years has it been now that we haven't even had a Christmas Country Bear show, even though it was done in the past and clearly possible?

Just an example of why I doubt we will see many updates on these rides and shows that are clearly designed to allow updates. After all, we are still "Soarin'" over California right here in Florida... how many years after they brought us Soarin' as "gift" from Disneyland? Wasn't that sent over here for the 50th anniversary of Disneyland (and the first "Disney Parks" worldwide celebration)? So that makes 10 years now that we are celebrating 50 years of Disneyland before we update the film for Florida.

I got it (even though I knew it was cheaper to clone) at the time that they advertised it as a "gift" from Disneyland to celebrate 50 years of Disney theme parks (just as the stunt show clone was a "gift" from DL Paris..). But now that explanation for flying over California, and landing in Disneyland, is far from understood. Instead the ride makes no sense at all now.

I could see them doing this easily, it's not hard to have worlds or otherwise show up without spoiling anything going on it. This could very well be great promotion for the film, OR....just like those previews that have been popular at wdw lately what if one cabin becomes a star wars force awakens preview complete with special effects? Perhaps a trailer cabin? We know a new trailer is coming soon, I could only imagine the wait time for it.

I seem to remember at the time of the re-launched Star Tours one of the ILM animators mentioning two scenes that were finished, but were being held for later- Kamino and Mustafar I believe.

For my mind, I would wonder how something representing the new films would be merged in for the attraction whose "story" takes place between Revenge of the Sith and New Hope...

Just visiting a planet and engaging in shenanigans. You know, like what the Imagineers wanted to do with Hoth (Wampas and Tauntauns) before George insisted on showing us "The Secret First Battle of Hoth" and making up some stupid story about the Rebels going back to Hoth in ESB because they figured the Empire would never try looking back there again...

THIS. No way this happens before Episode VII is released.

And I'm not holding my breath for afterwards.
I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen as part of the larger Star Wars expansion. It may happen before, but I definitely wouldn't expect it before Episode VII.
