New Star Tours Sequence

So, a little droid unit told me that Imagineers have been fiddling around with one of the cabins at Star Tours for a few weeks now. The reasoning behind this is because apparently a new sequence is being added to Star Tours! It's supposed to be centered around The Force Awakens, and I was given a date of April 17th as to when this would be happening/revealed.

What are your thoughts on this? Is it likely? Heard anything about this?

I haven’t heard anything substantial on a date for new scenes (besides the fact that there are supposed to be new scenes sometime before the VII-IX trilogy is complete ;)). Personally I wasn’t expecting any news until the lead up to SWW, but it certainly wouldn’t be surprising if it was that soon. This kind of implementation wouldn’t have much noticeable work on the guest facing side so it’s a little harder to tell.

The 17th is right in the middle of Star Wars Celebration, the big ole' Star Wars convention happening in Anaheim, so it's fitting that they'd announce something then, probably at the con. My only concern is that if it's concerning the new movie, is it going to give anything away? The movie comes out in December.

I think they might use footage from the trailers for the new sequence, like the millennium falcon scene from the first trailer.

I like hearing about a new scene, but I wonder about the timing of it, too. Especially with the movie coming in December. I'd also think a SW Weekend would be a possible time to see it appear. I suppose it's possible, the way the scenes are done, we could at least see a new planet or setting from The Force Awakens appear without it giving away any plot details.

As a SW geek, I won't even get into the fact the the timeline could be all thrown off by adding new movie elements. :)

It sounds nice. But no two rides have the same sequence playing.

Not quite sure what that has to do with anything...if anything all it'll do is bump up the wait for Star Tours and get some frequent flyers onto the ride.

I remeber that during the promotions it stated that the refurb of Star Tours, there were 50 seperate possible "adventures". So what im trying to say is how often will the new scenes played compared to the older ones?

If they were doing things in conjunction with SWC I would imagine a preview/test/soft open at Star Tours at DL rather than anything at WDW. Especially considering the convention center is literally across the street. (I’m skipping Celebration this time - are they even doing a night event at DL? I can’t imagine that happening as it’s during a prime Spring break weekend.)

I don’t think anything they put in for the new scenes will really spoil anything for VII or future movies. None of the scenes that are in there now really dip too much into the plot department. People will complain about and/or flock to the updated ride no matter what they put in.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but while there might be 50 possible COMBINATIONS of sequences, there is only one set of three different destinations that the vehicle can go to on the first warp and a separate set of three different destinations that it can go to on the second warp. If they added (as opposed to replaced) a destination on either the first or the second warp groupings, your chance of hitting it would be 1:4 (25% of the time) and if they added a new destination to both of the groupings, your chance of hitting at least one of the new destinations would be even greater.

No offense but no thanks. Really don't want to see animation mixed with live action, or really anything that isn't in the main films.
Doesn't have to be animation man. Get ILM to model stuff in the style of the films and put Ashley Eckstein in makeup.

It's all one canon under Disney now. And if those really dumb plot leaks about 7 are true, then yeah, I'd rather have Rebels then Abrams added to the attraction.
