New Stacy "Disney Must Do's" critique

Moving a bit away from this, does anyone else think the Planning DVDs have really dipped in quality since they moved onto DVD, like all the "this is my palace of dreams" crap. There were so much better in the early 2000s.

OH MAN i totally agree! it is sooo overly sappy now. i miss the ones from the 90's and early 2000's when they just got to the point and showed you what was in the parks instead of interviewing everyone about "what their dreams are"

I actually didn't mind the Vacation Planning with Erin, Luke, Dave and Stacey. A little corny but much much better than the "This is my dream" stuff being churned out now.

I really need to watch it. I still have it unopened from 2005. :lookaroun

Oh, and your avatar makes me hungry for pie for some unknown reason. ;)

What does everyone think of the new in-room Stacy video? My wife and I loved the old Top 7 but we are very disappointed in the new version. It's very toned down and MUCH shorter - doesn't cover nearly enough attractions and things to do. I remember the first time we saw it we said to ourselves, "That's it?" Not only that but the three "must do's" she lists for MK are Small World, Dumbo, and Splash Mountain...??? Not to put any of those down but I just think that's a very random and weak list with all that exists at MK. The script is really bad too. "There are some things you must do, but there are only some of those most do's that you actually wanna do." What does that mean anyway?

I agree - I loved the Top 7 because it was like being in the parks when you weren't in the parks. The new one is boring and like a work presentation.

Of course this is coming from the gal that likes to watch the Chrissa version on You Tube.

I had no idea that they had changed the "Top 7" when I got there in May. I was so disappointed! As much as I thought the previous version was so corny and annoying, it literally was on all the times we were in our room. We got ready with Stacy and went to sleep with it on.

I don't do well with change so it didn't sit well with me. As far as the average guest goes, I'm sure it fits it's purpose.

If I remember correctly there were many complaints about the top 7 being too “sappy” and too long. So Disney toned them the down with the new format.
Personally I like Stacy; I think she is “perky” and just the type of person I want to show me around WDW. I think my DS has a crush on her as he watches her whenever he can. DW however cannot stand Stacy so there is always a “discussion” as the TV being on when we are in our room.

I loved Dave,

DS and I also like the Erin, Stacey, Dave and Luke planning video best and will watch that DVD at times just for fun. Again, I think DS is crushing on Erin and “leisure expert” Dave is my hero.

but that Luke was the embodiement of the word .

I would not be that critical, Luke is just your basic “slacker-dude” much like the old “Dell computer dude” just someone for tween boys to relate to.

I hated the resort tv after they got rid of the "zip a dee do dah tips" and i have to say that the last good planning dvd was 2005. The one with Luke and Dave and the rest of those guys. After that they've just been copies of eachother with just a view updates.

Stacy was bearable, its one of those things thats nonstalgic, but she was annoying, at least there is less of her:ROFLOL:

Does anyway know if the new tv loop is on Youtube?

Personally i hated the whole thing... i mean, Small World a must do?? That being said, she's still quite hot, and got better looking since Top 7, but this version is too short and i did not like it

The new Must Do with Stacy is boring. We watched it once all the way thru, and then turned it off. In the past we would always turn it on when getting ready in the mornings, but not anymore. The new format is just boring.

Why can't they do a live or recorded Today in Disney morning show everyday? Have a couple of anchors to talk about the parks, hours, shows, and weather. I think that would make for a great format. Do it news style. Have random interviews with different CMs, Managers, etc around WDW. Seems like they would have more than enough material for at least a 15-20 minute show every day. Then they could just replay it thru the morning and switch to segments or a rolling commercial like the Must Dos or Top 7.

Supposedly, the 1970s TV programming at the 3 MK hotels had a similar news program about Magic Kingdom & other recreational amenities.

Now, it would be pretty cool if this vid somehow surfaced.
