I think they should still offer developing services on site, but hey, thats just me. :wave:

I agree... just add digital prints to the mix and people would keep coming... Of course, it will be hard to beat those $0.19 per picture prices at wally world.

Ah well, I have a dock/printer so I do my own printing... I edit and keep the ones I want, print out the number of photos I want and I'm done.

This service was available last year...or am I confusing it with something else? I needed to download one card to make more space and was told Disney did it for about $12.95 but limited it to either 128 pictures or 128mbs, I'm not sure which. This was done at the camera centers at each park.

There was some talk about putting a machine at the Contemporary and possibly one at each hotel.

I too went to Walgreens on I-192 and downloaded 256mbs onto a CD and it was on sale for $2.95. :wave:

You could get a PhotoCD at the Contemporary, Polynesian, MK, and Epcot, based on my memory of my trip in May 2004. You were limited to 120 pictures on each CD, and yes, they were $12.95 each.

Good to hear that the service is expanding! I'm sure it's a bit more profitable than "regular" photo developing - they make the initial investment in the machine, and CD's are dirt cheap. Yes, there is maintenance, but hopefully they can reduce the price of each CD, since it is quite popular and they would most likely get more people to use it with an attractive price of, say, $6.95 per CD, or $7.95 per.

Kodak is sponsoring the new Photopass thing.

Not really, thats all Disney.... all part of the destination disney deal. Besides, the Disney folks are only at Epcot and select parts of MGM right now.

My only criticism of the folks who take the pictures is that most of them wouldnt know a decent picture if it hit them upside the head.

Dave is right, the pictures i got are crap. I got a couple that my family members are actualy cliped out. Are these guys trained? I could of took a better picture with a broken disposable camara

The website says "Powered by Kodak"......WDC would not give Kodak credit unless they had to.

Ahh the website is run by Kodak, taht is correct. Thats part of the contract.

As for the Photopass photographers, theyre trying to train them. They just got some managers with actually photo experience, or so i heard...

I had the same thought. In the old Kodachrome/Ektachrome days, I never used Disney to process my film. I bought film in bulk and blasted away. I never trusted Disney to process my film.

With the advent of big digital cards, there is really no need to transfer the images to a CD at Disney.

This will be a short lived service IMO.

Don't forget how truly fragile these cards are though. A single, bad (microscopic) transistor or a big enough jolt of static electricity and *POOF* there go all of your pictures. I've seen too many flash cards fail for no apparent reason to trust them for anything more than temporary storage. Make dupes and/or burn to CD/DVD whenever possible.

And ive seen them go through the washer & dryer and live to tell the tail.
