New Ride at Sea World Orlando?

I was just at Sea World today and there is massive demolition going on. The area from where the flamingoes used to be at the front of the park stretching all the way to Blue Horizons (East to West) and from the Keys to the back edge of the waterfront (North to South) is walled off and has been demolished. After asking an employee guarding the walls, she told me that Sea World is building a new ride and a few new aquariums. I don't know if she was telling the truth or not but whatever is going on I think we can expect a big change in this area of the park.

The rumor I've heard is that the area will have a roller coaster by 2009. There is certainly enough space there for one. I haven't heard anything definite yet.

Interesting, I wonder how it will compare to Kraken?

Does anybody have any information on what's going on with the old boat show area? I've been to Seaworld a couple times in the past 2-3 years, it seems vacant, and the path to get to it is blocked. Anybody know of plans for it to re-open or demolish?

The most popular rumor is a B&M Flyer, and such a ride would make sense for the park. I wouldn't be thrilled if that is what it ends up being though as I find the flyers to be pretty boring.

A flyer would be good for Sea World b/c it would be different the the other coasters in Florida. I'm excited about this and hopefully there will be some new aquariums.

Sea World needs this. Badly.

Sorry - but I have to disagree. SeaWorld is not a ride park, it is an educational and marine animal welfare related park which has rides to help keep the public attending. A new ride would be nice - but not essential as it will never compete with WDW or IOA

I agree the thing that draws crowds is the great shows they have.I enjoy Shamu, the dolphins, penguins, the walrus, mimes, and the Circ De Le Mar shows.I look at Sea World like a zoo not a amusement park.

While I agree to some extent, I have neglected to visit Sea World in some time. The shows are great, but their latest big ride is eight years old.

Its funny even with out new rides Sea World has seen amazing attendance growth over the past few years with just some re-done shows. I love Sea World and a new coaster will make me love it even more!

The area for it is huge. Somewhere I heard the rumor that the coaster will actually be going over stuff/buildings and exhibits on the ground, but can't remember where I heard it from. Could be totally just a rumor from someone I talked to there.

As for what is happening in the stadium on the lake someone asked about.....

At this time of the year Bud & BBQ uses it as the stage for the concerts. Then they have the Latino concerts there, too. Come summer beginning Memorial Day weekend usually they will probably do the Sesame Street Show with Elmo and the gang for the younger kids. All the props from last summer's shows are still in the area.

that would be nice... if only they give the media (and me :lookaroun) the information before the rest of the internet this time...

I'm tracking details as people actually find them... though Sea world has filed a trademark for "Manta" no clue on what for... but the coaster was rumored to be themed around a manta ray....
