Since it wasn't a sinkhole caused by the underground sand/rock/watertable situation, I'd presume it's as simple as filling it in with clean fill dirt, just like any other crater caused by a water main break. (How convenient that they have a dirt pile near the Epcot monorail beam...)

That pile of dirt by the monorail beam is the waste material from the water main they are pushing under World drive BTW. This is the same water main they have been installing near Epcot for a while now.

So I over heard about a project at Epcot and sure enough there is something going on by inventions west (by club cool). There is a backhoe on site and a fairly large area is walled off (RED). At first I thought this was just the removal of the butterfly garden since the flower and garden fest just ended but the area has been demolished fairly completely. All of the concrete walks are gone and they also cut a trench across the walkway leading to the backside of inventions west presumably for new utilities (YELLOW). here's a diagram of the affected area.

thoughts?
This is the area that my sister said was too dark and unsafe to walk through at night when we were there a few weeks ago... Interesting...

Thanks for confirming that I haven't completely lost my mind! Lol

I guess there are creeps that hang out there like the expo robotics ghosts.
Chills just ran down my spine thinking of that. Last time I was creeped out like that was at Holloween Horror Nights at Uni or when I walked down a dark street of NYC years ago...

They are actually putting in a "Let it Go : The Making of Frozen" attraction. They are going to make the sand look like snow and then turn on the water to make the snow go away.

Earlier this year in September, I noticed this area was still behind skrims and looked like construction equipment was still there. Any updates?

New F&W kiosks are in this area now for the festival. I'm sure the walls were hiding utility and water lines being installed.
