New PotC Ride darker and much less of song

I rode the new PotC ride last week when I was at the MK, and I enjoyed it but came out realizing that the use of "Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Pirate's Life for Me" was VERY diminished in the new version. I had read much here about the addition of Capt. Jack Sparrow and the other guy (sorry, forgot his name!), which were well done.

But the last scene, where Jack is now sitting on the chair surrounded by now HIS booty, made me realize that the ride had been made over slightly more than I had thought. (Story was fine; just made me think about the changes.) So, what I further realized was that the song was now much more rare in the ride.

Anyone else who has seen the new version notice this?

I didn't come out of the ride with "Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Pirate's Life for Me" stuck in my head. Maybe that is a good thing, but I am not sure yet!

So, overall I think the new ride is darker and more like the movie than previous reviews made me think. But I did think that the Johnny Depp AAs were well done and mostly fit in. I guess I would have put just a little more of the song (a rousing version) at the end. But overall, a good new ride.

It's not played constantly, but it's still there plenty.
Last couple of times I've been on the dark rides at WDW, it's been hit or miss with the audio levels. The soundtrack either totally overpowers the dialog or else it's next to non-existant. Maybe just bad levels when you were there last?

Actually, I noticed this too -- there is additional theme music added, and it NOT all YoHo like the previous incarnation was -- although I thought it was a good thing.

The Yo-Ho Song really hasn't changed all that much. Capt. Sparrow now sings it at the end, which there was no singing previous to the rehab, and the Yo-Ho song from the beginning cave has been removed as well, to make room for Davy Jones. It's give and take. The orig. soundtrack is now heard in the queue, and the movie sountrack is now part of the attack sequence. It's well done, just different. Sond is always hit or miss, it also depends on who keeps talking on the boat!

The song was never really played all that much to begin with... It was played in the cave, in the fire scene, and by a flute somewhere else along the way. Am I missing somewhere else?

No I think thats about it! They kept all those in the new attraction plus added Jack singing it at the end of the ride so theres more.

The flute by the way is at the well scene if im not mistaken.

That's what I was thinking. In the previous version, I really only remember it during the fire scene.

Maybe the reason that it seems like the song isn't there as much is because you were focusing on other things, prberk - i.e. the Jack AAs, the new scenes, the Davy projection.

I dont get why Its a small world is considered an "awful song". It is absoluetly no different then "Yo Ho Yo Ho" or "grim grinning ghosts".

Or maybe just have "Yo Ho" in 857 different languages?

Or some new lyrics! "It's a world of plunder, a world of rum, a world of pillage and Tortuga slums!"

Every time we rode the first week or so it was open the guy in the well scene never spit water anymore. Did that get changed or was it just broke. Also, I thought the guy with the pigs was singing, now he just is snoring if I remember correctly. Also the clouds in the cieling didnt seem to be as numerous. And have they fixed the plexiglass that was screwed to the lower part of the conveyer belt at the exit. The first couple days it was wavy, then a few days later it was pieced together by duct tape. The peg leged pirate made it even more noticeable. Also the smoke around the wicked wench was very thick, infact some trips it was hard to make out barbosa (sp).

Yeah. I knew at least one person was going to take my post this way. I was just poking fun at IASW's reputation for having an annoying song. Actually, the song doesn't really bother me a whole lot. I was just joking and I hoped people would take the  at the end of my post to indicate so

Well, I did focus on the new things, but I do think the song was not as prominent as it was. Although Jack does sing (or rather, "speak") the song at the very end, it used to be much more prominent in the last scene. I know this much because that is the place where I have gotten stuck MANY times, as the load area got backed up or broken. In 2005 we were in that scene for about 20 minutes while they played the "please remain seated -- the ride will resume momentarily" speil every so often. And that song was completely stuck in my head by the time we got off!

(BTW, has anyone else gotten stuck in PotC or IASW for an extended period or time. It can drive even the best of us crazy!)

So, that is what made me notice the change in use of the song -- it just wasn't still with me when it was all over, and just made me think.

And I do not know about the audio level. Haven't thought about that before. Looks like I need another trip to the World -- you know, for scientific sampling purposes! ;)

It sounds like there have been some drastic changes to Pirates of the Caribbean other than just some of the music. With the addition of Jack Sparrow, did anything get completely taken out of the old ride?

The only things completely gone from the ride are the pirates that used to be in the treasure scene. Barbossa is essentially the old ship captain with a new face and costume.

I heard that Barbossa was a new animontronic, I think a A-100 figure, which would mean replacing the old figure which was not an A-100.

The Skull is also completely gone, as well as the parrot at the enterance.

either that of they would just have him singing it himself.
"its a small world after all".
could you imagine that, jacks drunken slightly slurry cockney accent singing that

having said that i think it would be funny if they had jack sing the above line in the new movie,it would fit in.
say there is a scene where jack meets the mystery character from the end if dead mans chest that everyone knows by now but im not going to mention incases anyine hasn't seen it yet.whew. anyway

he (mystery man) could say something like
"well well jack its a small world after all"
and jack could then hum the tune or something.
i think that it would be cool to have another ride referenced in the first film,it worked in "the lion king".
