New Post Show at Test Track

The new post show, formally where the Dreamchasers area was, has now reopened. The section features new exhibits featuring Flex Fuel, Hydrogen Fuel Cells, and Hybrid vehicles. There is a flex fuel 2007 Impala also on Display.

Overall I think this is a major improvement over the very unpopular and superfluous Dreamchasers. However, I wish it would have come a lot sooner. The attraction needed some forward thinking approach which has been absent since its inception, and the old post show was pointless.
I am glad this new exhibit is finally here.:)

I'm surprised General Motors didn't just cut their losses, realize the invevitable, and lease out the Post-Show area to the nice folks at Toyota.

Heck, Disneyland already dumped GM as a Tomorrowland sponsor a few years ago and replaced them with Honda. The SoCal audience at Disneyland stopped buying GM products 20 years ago and now all drive Hondas and Acuras and Toyotas and Scions and Lexus' anyway, so there was no real point in the old Tomorrowland GM display with that cheesy Chevrolet Blazer.

GM's sponsership of Test Track ends next year. I wonder if they will be continuing with Disney or if Honda will take over. Anyone know?

Both were to blame at Disneyland. GM saw the mess Test Track was in and refused to fund Rocket Rods - a TT Hybrid ride system - since TT was giving them a bad enough name through no fault of their own. RR was built sponsorless, the Anaheim hirearchy wouldn`t fund the missing sponsors cash, and RR was flawed from opening day. You can bet Team Disney Anaheim had a sour taste that the GM money (instead of their own, remember) would have made RR a much more reliable attraction.

GM would be foolish to pull out if Disney will still have them. They can really bolster their eco-friendly image if they continue to represent their advances in a well-done post show.

Besides, it wouldn't hurt right now for an American company to help out some American produxcts now and then. Just a thought...

It would be really great if they could keep Test Track running more often. So far almost every time I go to EPCOT it is down for a while. Really blows since I've been to EPCOT 8 times in 2006 and it was down all but 2 of the times!
:brick: When it is up and running what a GREAT ride, tho!

They should get rid of the attraction and replace it with something less...bland. At the very least remove some of the stuff at the enterance its way too messy looking.

You sat in these chairs, which looked like big purple Waring blenders, that would swivel back and forth--no other movement than that. You leaned forward in the chair into this "viewmaster" style video screen. So it was sorta a simulator-lite. The video was computer animated, I think, but I can barely recall what you saw. You were constantly on the move, I remember, following some character or something. It didn't help that it wasn't comfortable to watch with my glasses so I took them off.

Long story short, you didn't miss anything!

They were on the left as you exited Test Track, right? They never seemed to be working when I was in there. Glad I didn't miss anything. Thanks for sharing the info.

I waited forever to ride Dreamchasers. After about 15 seconds into it, I felt like I was going to puke. It made me incredibly motion sick. Needless to say, I never spent anymore time with the Dreamchasers:hurl:

Dreamchasers was not impressive. Yes, they were visually appealing with their sleek futuristic purpleness, but that was about it. After waiting for over a half hour in line to see what the heck it was, I was disappointed. It's basically a 5 minute long commercial about a cartoon toy car that explores how the GM engineers make car concepts. It's a non-interactive film that gives you that "why did I wait in line for that?" feeling after getting off. I'm thrilled that there's something new in there that has to do with future technology, can anyone get pictures??

GM Sponsorship of Test Track does NOT end next year. The contract ends in 2009. Honda or Toyata will NOT be coming in. GM says that Test Track accounts for 4 percent of its total sales. Thats huge.

No, they dont sell cars there, but the exposure accounts for 4 percent when people are surveyed on where they learned about the car, etc.

Don't blame me, blame Wikipedia:

"General Motors' current agreement to sponsor Test Track expires in 2007. Some at GM do not want to renew the contract with Disney due to heavy sponsorship costs at a time when GM is trying to cut costs.
This has lead to rumors that Honda will take over the sponsorship later in 2007 after a brief rehab of the ride. As Honda took over GM's status as the official vehicle partner of the Disneyland Resort in California in 2005, a Disney World-Honda partnership is seen by many insiders as inevitable. However, Disney and Honda have not confirmed or denied the rumors."

I thought the dreamchasers were just a way to hypnotize people to buy a GM car. I remember going back home and having relentless dreams about GM cars!

Cool News! GM has been heavily promoting their fuel cell vehicles over the past few months. They clearly want to present themselves as a forward thinking company, so I think this is a good move for them.

I'd like to see tham take it a few steps farther and start supplying Disney with fuel cell vehicles for use on property and help them set up a hydrogen fueling station.

There are some good synergistic opportunities there if GM is serious.
