And for $200 bucks less a night I can stay at AKL… no brainer.
The X poster is correct.

Before, the design ethos was immersive and whimsical design with modern features.
Now, it's modern contemporary (generic) design with an applied motif.

The design ethos, especially for new DVC, is purely functional. Because the DVCs are mostly always sold out, there is no need to design in the grand scale as AKL, WL, GF, etc.

SoG walk way closed forever guess they didn't want us veteran riff raft impacting their new DVC
This is literally the reason, Disney could have easily built bridges over the road like they did all over Disney springs but they purposefully chose not too because apparently they don’t think US military personnel can cross a road safety and they didn’t want to allow a bridge to be constructed.

They could have easily created a bridge just like they have done all over Disney springs if they wanted too.
But, why? It’s okay for the monorail resorts to have the best features. They could have built a bridge to allow us to walk from Wilderness Lodge to Contemporary and on to MK but chose not to. Could have added a monorail station there if they wanted to, as well. They chose not to because the Lodge was originally designed to be a tier below the monorail resorts (and cheaper).

They can and should provide the best experience at their most expensive resorts. Why else would you book the Grand?

Not for nothing, Poly is huge now. I’d be angry if I paid to stay there and had to wait 45 minutes for a monorail because people are walking over. I hate when I see that people at Swolphin go over to Boardwalk to use their busses because the Swolphin service sucks. Swolphin decided to stop paying for Disney busses. Guests staying there should use the busses they are paying for.

Disney still provides substantial benefits to veterans and active duty military.

Thanks for proving the exact the point of the person who brought it up. They didn’t want the veteran riff raff over there so they closed the walkway.

Yes they could have. But the reason would still be because of the new road not because of the new DVC.
Disney could have easily had a connection included in the plans if they truly wanted to but again they didn’t want the “veteran riff raff” as the original person who brought it up from coming over and this was a good excuse.

I think your use of “riff raff” is unfair.

If you don’t pay to use Poly facilities, you shouldn’t get to use Poly facilities. It’s not a judgment on anyone. You pay for what you get. I would not expect veterans to get Lightning Lane access without paying for it, either. That doesn’t make the company anti-veteran.

Nothing stops those guests from visiting the Polynesian. They are still welcome to visit. But obviously this will cut down on some of their use of Poly transportation. Which they never should have felt entitled to anyway.

What you call easily would actually require millions of dollars and require significant changes to the Polynesian side to accommodate. Did SOG offer to help fund a bridge? Since it benefits their guests?

I was just using the term the person who brought the topic up a few minutes ago used.

But you are wrong! People who don’t stay at the poly can visit the poly! Also, there’s a walkway between poly and GF should people be able to walk between the different resorts just to enjoy the ambiance of the other resort even though they aren’t staying there?

The term is completely fair and that pathway was in place for years until Disney decided it no longer wanted it in place

I have no idea if SOG offered to fund a bridge. i just know that there was a pathway and now there isn’t one and disney didn’t provide an alternative.

SOG has it's own facilities and transportation...Why is this an issue at all? I am sure Disney doesn't view the Veteran guests as Riff-Raff...that is awful. If they didn't want them there they would have never sold them the old Disney Inn/Golf Resort to begin with...
