Years ago the poly manager had their portion of the beam painted, your picture shows how that was not a good idea, their portion of the beam always looks worse now because of that

Thank GOODNESS they were given the heave ho from WDI. Sadly, it’s legacy lives on with this resort tower, Riviera, and the EPCOT “reimagining”

Is the walkway between the GF and Poly now restored? I would love to be able to walk to MK again from the Poly.
It is, but not yet open
It looks like a building with the design features and ethos that you can currently find anywhere in the country. There is no whimsy or extravagance like the other classic resorts. It is just very generic, it doesn't have the feeling of Polynesia. The building is brown, the grass is brown, the vegetation is sparse. It needs more green and more character that you don't get from what's there.
Maybe it will look better once the landscaping grows in and enhances the generic design features.

Then it will look like a condo building in Florida.... The building can't be covered up with decor... it is still the modern, condo/apartment building built at the Polynesian... If they had at least carried over the roof shape of the other buildings it would have helped... If the pool had a replica of the old original Polynesian waterfall slide pool....instead of literally nothing...

Interesting seeing first time placing the signage letters and seeing they are putting them starting in backwards order. I don't know if it's normally done like that.
Grand Destino is by far the best place to stay on property. From the elegant modern design, to rooms, to the amenities it is better than most deluxe resorts on property.
That being said, it's the least "Disney" resort on property. Its function, design, and theming is geared towards business and not for leisure guests..

I feel it's very retreat, The Disney version of Four Seasons, a reset calm oasis after a busy or hectic day coming from the parks, and a restful setting still in the Disney Bubble but escaped before you go to the park. Now except if it's a period with Convention Groups depends whether that is a concern to you.

You should probably qualify that with ‘nice’. Riviera is definitely themed, exterior build finishings are just not up to expected par.
WDW is still due for a Toy Story hotel. Ick.
Explorer Lodge might have been the last one that maybe people are largely accepting of.
I think we’ll see a Scandinavian hotel eventually…
Can you imagine a Star Wars themed Hotel at WDW? I mean that would be impossible to screw up, they'd have to be totally incompetent if that was the case.
I think if they bought the Toy Story Hotel over to Florida and made it a cheap (er) budget friendly hotel it would do great!
Also I was looking at old cancelled projects and that one called the grand venisio woulda have been so chill

I like that there is something there, but it is a bit like lipstick on a pig... At least they didn't leave the walls blank like they did at the Riviera...I do like the tattoo painting style
but really the theming at the Riviera is confined to some photos scattered around the building....and some vaguely French looking ironwork around the trance and the mansard roof... Everything else is generic Marriott hotel... to me, it is really the least Disney feeling hotel on-property. I would have rather seen them do something mid-century modern and call it the Skyliner Lodge....because that Skyliner access is really the only reason to stay at this hotel...
