wow when you look at the rendering next to the finished product it is strikingly bad.... but that seems to be the way lately...the details are rushed, forgotten, or left off completely...
Maybe Disney needs to go back to their roots and hire set and production designers from the film world to help create the memorable placemaking designs they once created...instead of the Marriott School Of Hospitality Design firm they are using.

The eastern exit of the building is exactly where Aotearoa currently is. The walk to the Great Ceremonial House is a breeze. A dining location looks to be in the works on the first floor based on the plans, though the nature of it is unknown. Quick service seems like it would be a good idea to supplement the resort since Captain Cook's can be a madhouse at times. I honestly wish they'd offload Trader Sam's to the new building as a larger bar and then reclaim that space in the GCH.

That is a really good idea! Trader Sam's can be designed as a larger bar but designed to still feel intimate...I know they are concerned about losing that feeling, but I have been to much larger bars that still play as intimate spaces...and they really need the capacity. I always wonder why when they planned for a Trader Sam's they didn't expand the space, and connect it better to the outdoor patio and really create a spectacular outdoor bar....so if you are stuck on a waiting list for hours, you still have more of an experience at the outer location...

You and me both! I live near one of the great last Tiki bars in the country...which unfortunately closed due to a water leak during Covid... They have been restoring it for three years now and has still not reopened...They are saying Summer now....
Being literally at the end of our street, we would go there quite often...I long for a good Jet Pilot or Shark Bite...

I still want to know if they are going to add an extra quick service for the location.

In terms of transportation, this is going to suck. are they going to add bus stops or just tell people to walk to the Polynesian or grand Floridian monorail, bus stop, and ferry?

And as of now, they have a hard time servicing the current number of resort guests wanting to use the monorail.

When it’s complete you will never notice the equipment doghouse. There is thought behind it.

Only because it is Polynesian related, I would rather stay in this tower with a balcony than pay for one of the rooms at the original resort with railing in front of the sliding glass door. Thankfully with my points, we only stay DVC and all rooms on the two longhouses have the full balcony.

I stayed there numerous times as a kid in the 80’s and 90’s and never could remember as an adult if those rooms lost the balcony or never had them but either way that is a miss.

It will be impossible to hide from the Irvine, Fowler, and Potter ferries. The rendering hides the "doghouse" as the angle is closer to the structure. The elevations are rough here too and appear to be off white EIFS or something just as innovative:

I don’t want to turn this into a 100 page discussion on forced perspective because I see how in depth some people go on this board arguing minutia but you do see the difference of where the architectural rendering was shown from and the picture with your cloud? Depending on where the ferries are traveling from, the equipment rooms would be seen as well.

What about point two and the balconies at the original Polynesian? To me that is a much bigger eyesore but that is me walking on the property and not viewing it from the ferry.

I'm sure someone like Tikiman could speak to it a lot better than I can, but as I understand it, the original Polynesian longhouses did not have a balcony on the second floor, because that is traditional Polynesian building style. When DVC came along, DVC required every room to have a balcony, so those 3 longhouses were retrofitted to have second floor balconies.
