My first visit to this thread in a while, and I just saw the pictures. This is so ugly. There's nothing they could put on the exterior of this tower that is going to make it blend in with the Poly's aesthetic. It's far too dense, where the old Poly buildings exude the feeling of beachside bungalows. It's like a 9x13 cookie cake versus a plate of cookies.
Pretty sure the Polynesian had a health club in the early years - along with a beauty salon and the kids club and an arcade (not to mention an additional restaurant and the luau).

Again, I don’t know what the complaining is about. The tower fits in just fine and people are getting another deluxe resort to eat, drink and sleep. It will also have very nice amenities. For those who are manufacturing outrage from their mom’s basement it is currently the grey tower above the wedding pavilion or if you do not know where that is, to the extreme right. Yeah it’s a real eyesore! I can’t even imagine how it will look from MK which is twice as far as the picture taken from the GF BPK balcony. It will even be more horrific to the two Polynesian row houses that actually face towards the new tower. My god the horror.
I am not sure I understand the point but yes all of Disney World was an eyesore too before Walt decided to build on it, the area was a swamp. The whole area around the Poly was an eyesore when it opened... there was just grass and a few bushes.

Newsflash water is wet….pipe down Francis in five decades you will appreciate this building too!Not my point, it literally took decades for the landscaping to grow to the point where it complemented and softened the appearance of the resort after it opened. The space around the buildings literally was flat and sandy grass. Across the street was a wall of pine trees.
Frances? That Stripes phrase is more tired than your attempted retort.Newsflash water is wet….pipe down Francis in five decades you will appreciate this building too!
But it seemed your preference was to dated things,Frances? That Stripes phrase is more tired than your attempted retort.
Not to mention, the hulking over the Wedding Pavilion. Ugh.If there was no mention of the Poly..and the pictures did not show any buildings next to it I would have said that’s a nice Sheraton hotel. Where is that,Texas? Phoenix? That’s just horrible. Gone are the days of seemless theming and in are the days of just slap it up and don’t think of anything else.
The problem is, the Poly does not look like Aulani. They aren't in any way similar. Aulani looks fine on its own, because everything was built to match. The way it's coming together, it kind of looks like an Aulani tower in some ways. And Aulani looks great.

Of course there will be finishes.... But the architectural style and design motifs are a jarring departure from the rest of the resort. That's true, that naked cement face definitely doesn't match the rest of the resort.
Yes, Yes, and Yes. I have never been so jarred in my whole life!Of course there will be finishes.... But the architectural style and design motifs are a jarring departure from the rest of the resort.
