They replaced every bit of lighting in the entire ride. The new lighting looks great. It is darker than it used to be but the scenes themselves look much better. The ceiling was lit up pretty bright before, while now the ceiling is dark.

Thanks Peter! I was hoping you were going to say that. I remember the last time we rode IASW in 2003 before it went down for rehab I thought it looked sort of like a big warehouse and at times found the fairly well lit ceilings to be a major distraction. It sounds like they've fixed that and I can't wait to see the new lighting effects.

P.S. Loved the EE building photo - keep 'em coming! Gave you some rep points!

Awsome pictures, :)
do you have any more of everest?
Unfortunately I do not. I took those pictures around 5 and planned to go down the path near Everest again later for more photos. Unfortunately they closed the path for a private event before I could get any more. However I can tell you that they had some sort of template up in the opening of the mountain after the drop. It looks like they are using it to know where people could reach their hands before they do more rockwork.

Excellent pics!

If possible and if you have find the time, I wouldn't mind seeing larger photos of all your Everest shots. I haven't been to AK in a while, and I'd like to be able to better see the progress in rockwork. It looks like the one peak on the left-hand side has received its rockwork, no?

I hope these work

Everest 1

Everest 2

Everest 3

And yes it does look like that peak has received its rockwork.

^^I too am personally just amazed by the sheer scale of the whole project. I don't know what the actual ride will be like yet (though I gather it will be great), but the size of the mountain and nearby village coupled with the outside portions through what will eventually be a bamboo forest, I just stand in awe in how they have been able to make it all come together. What initially seemed like a bizarre assortment of steel and random track pieces has come together amazingly. The detail in the buildings and initial rockwork is nothing short of stunning. Honestly, I think this is the most excited I've been watching a new ride get built...might have something to due with a lot of the construction being visible though ;)

does anyone know if this ride is suppost to be another Space Mountain/Big Thunder Railroad or it is support to be more of an extreme thrill ride like Rocin Rollercoaster or Mission Space... I hope it isn't too extreme because I get sick on those

Think of it as a cross between the Matterhorn, Thunder Mountain, and Rock'n Roller Coaster.

I could be wrong, but I believe the ride peaks out at 70mph and has the largest drop on Disney property.

The drop is 80 feet and the ride tops out at 55mph with no inversions.

In the next two years alone three E-ticket attractions will open up at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, among them Expedition Everest at the Animal Kingdom park

What are the other two?

Soarin and LMA?

The tallest drop is 80ft. If I had to guess it would be closer 50mph. Considering Batman the Ride only has a 90 foot drop and only reaches 50mph.
