I think that road is a service road. I don't see them removing it since they need it and moving out further wouldn't hide it either. But then again, I could be completly wrong.

Also, Lynx, as to what you said about the landscaping and such you make a great point. Though they've made plenty of progress, they still have A LOT to do.
If you look a the concept art of the attraction, the landscaping is heavy tree foliage. Makes me wonder where they will get all the tree from. I guess they replant them from surrounding areas.

Just look at all the foliage in Animal Kingdom already, they started with nothing but cleared land and created what seems to be an ecosystem that has been around for years.

I heard they are taking the old 20k subs and putting them on train wheels. I could be wrong though, and I have not been able to confirm this information through a reliable source..... :lookaroun :lookaroun

I thought they were going to use the old Disneyland Peoplemover trains, this was of course after they couldn't find the old Atomobiles from ATIS. :lookaroun

Am I the only one that thinks it doesn't look that big? I feel like when trains are travelling up the lift hill or down that descent in front of the mountain it's going to affect the forced perspective of the mountain...therefore making it look like riders are travelling around a miniature mountain.
No. I feel the same way. I've had a lot of people say the pictures do not describe how big it really is, but I can't get that into my head. I'm trying to put it in reference, but can't. Does anyone know how far it feels away from the pathway? The concept art makes it really far back from the path. Is the mountain itself in that vein? I know a good view isn't available yet, but does the mountain "sit back"?

Turst me, it is plan huge and I haven't seen in person since April 04. When I first saw the pics I didn't think it was that large. Then when i walked up to from the Tarzan Rocks show, my jaw dropped. Everything is big about it, even the track looks bigger in person. You have to remember that when you take a pic, the camera trys to fit the surroundings in the pic, this usually makes objects seem different size then what it is. Picture TOT but sumo sized.

Also remember Disney is an expert of using forced perspective. Even if the structure itself does not "look" big, it will definately "feel" big once everything is around it.

Look familiar, anyone? It's safe to say that the actual product is starting to look very much like the model. Conveniently, one of the new pics was taken from an angle that's very similar to the one in the model.

Looking back at ogryn's layout, it appears to be mostly correct. I would say that #1 is a small lift hill. The train's definately going to need some energy to go under the lift, by the helix, and around to the big lift hill.

I've been looking at these two pics form Screamscape all day at work. They're still open in two tabs in Firefox. Oh my.

The amount of progress they've made is amazing. They're well underway with the queue construction, and they even have the border for the new pathway in front of the ride (you can see the frame in the pics)

From the model layout, you would have a break zone before the unload area, one in the unload area, one in the load area, one at the first lift, one before or at the base of the main lift and possibly one on the main lift itself. Plus the two switchback break areas inside the mountain. That's 8 possible break zones.

So, for you former coaster operators, how many trains could you have going at once? 4? 5?

my guess is: One in the load station, second on the pre lift and lift section, third on track up too switch track foward again and the 4th coming into the unload station.

This is just a quick guess cause I am leaving work and trying to get outta here!!!!!!! :)

Question #2:
Also while looking at pics/model, there doesn't seem to be an obvious place where the trains would load/unload for maintenance. Perhaps the retaining wall being built behind the station/near the main lift would include the shop facilities. The model seems to show a building there.

Thanks so much for posting links to those pictures! EE is looking great. I saw it for the first time in November and it was much larger in person than I would have thought from the pictures. I knew it was gonna be big, but it just looks so much bigger in real life.
