New Patents that only this board could possibly figure out.

Two things happened. One was a management shake-up at WDW and the other was the newly implemented "One Park" concept (or whatever it is called). Around that time TDO lost a lot of clout it seems. Feel free to prove me wrong if you have the documentation.

Or you can prove yourself right, if you have the documentation.

LOL. Well we know a lot of the cash went into getting the thing actually running after the vendor left it. The duplication of the ride system for all 4 bays also had to have been a factor.

This whole Mission:SPACE thing is confusing!

I think, personal opinion here, with all the various ideas they had for an attraction, they invested in the wrong one.

I have said many times in the last couple years that TDO has little say on large capital projects. Our experts here have never refuted it. That was the whole point of the One Park concept.

But you're asking for someone to show documentation to prove you wrong, when you can't do the same to prove that you're right. Why even ask someone to do that when you know you can't even do that yourself? And by experts, it seems like you pick and choose when to give them creedence, and at other times you try to discredit them, or outright ignore what they say, or just talk around it by inserting your opinions on what's "really going on" by what they say. Then ask for someone to prove you wrong.

From what I've read, TDO has the power to shootdown projects proposed for WDW and approve them. In rare cases, TWDC will intervene and force, even restructure, projects against TDO's decisions (like the FLE), but for the most part, they act as their own entity. Which shows in how the two resorts are managed.

I never feel compelled to do research others are completely capable of doing themselves. Lee has confirmed there is a plan for DTD and of course we all know about Avatar. When the experts are right I agree with them. When they said nothing new is coming to the MK three years ago I disagreed. Simple logic Jim.

The second one looks most likely for Disneyland's Snow White. It recently got a new lighting system that works very similar to the one described. You can see it in this video:

...Especially at 1:02-1:10 and 1:48-1:55

It's a little hard to tell in the video, but toward the end in particular I can see how that could be the case with the dwarfs.

I think you must have gotten the wrong end of the stick, JT.

WDI is still very very innovative. Under all the paperwork.

It's those who call the shots who stifle the innovation and keep it locked in Glendale.

Well said.:)

I am hoping with the many new attractions and expansions in the works and the many rumors as well, the Gates at Glendale are opening and Mr. Igor and his bean counters have woken up and realized what Disney is all about.

The environment used in the second patent does look like it would fit right into a Snow White story. The description of the figures of the tree explains that the technology can be used to create a dark, stormy night and flashes of lightning. I could see that exact scene being an upgrade to Snow White's Scary Adventure black light storm scenes.

I think that it will be used to upgrade Snow White's Scary Adventures in Disneyland and bring it into the modern day. Aren't all of their Fantasyland dark rides going to go down at some point in the next few years to put them in the 21st century? For Disneyland's 60th Anniversary?

Definitely looks like how the omnimovers turn and such just on a bigger scale ride. Imagine RnR with the carts being able to spin on a 360 while still moving on the track. Pretty cool concept just a different way to patent there omnimover im guessing.

Disneyland turned 50 in 2005 ;) There are rumors of them getting upgrades for the 60th in 2015. If so they better get started soon.
